Well, you still have a PA that escorts you to immigration (I had two for some reasons, maybe the only HON on board) but from then on it took me 70 minutes 10 days ago, which felt quite long. They said they'd wait for me at the luggage belt which didn't really make a lot of sense, but when I came there nobody was there and my HON-tagged bag still enjoying the ride.

The wonderful and highly efficient Immigration fast track in JFK's Terminal 4 is no longer available. The station manager told me that they operated in a grey zone and that the Immigration Dept. ceased to tolerate it two weeks ago. So another US station where the HON pick-up is useless.
That was my preferred route into NYC. Although I have heard that before and it still worked. Can someone who has gone to JFK recently confirm this? arriving on the afternoon flight will be terrible, as it gets in just after Qatar, Emirates and Pakistan flights, with many pax enjoying special scrutiny at immigration.
I took LH a couple of days ago and there it worked seamlessly.

Arrived there last month and were told by the very friendly PA that they have cancelled that feature. But when I was the only one HON arriving she brought me to the front of the line without asking for a permission and it worked. But with more people it won't work anymore, she told me. Very bad. This was one reason of preferring LX to JFK over LH to EWR.

If you depart from T1 you can use the Star Alliance lounge. There's a separate "room" for F/HON right of the desk. Same food/drinks as in the general *A lounge but more quiet.

LX86: ZRH-YUL last Wednesday - very sloppy HON service. I was met at the door of the AC and asked if I needed assistance (this seems to be more the trend with LH & LX these days). I asked if immigration was busy (the expedited immigration is the most valuable HON benefit, where it is still offered), and was told, no worries. Then spent more than an hour in the line - no PA in sight. It used to be that the PA stuck to a HON like glue - but as with all premium services, the routine seems to make people lazy.
HON privileges at MUC still work quite well, FRA is a complete disaster, and at the majority of my US destinations, the authorities have clearly stamped out most of the benefits.
I would like to mention one notable exception - praise where it is due - MIA always makes a big effort to keep up the PA services. Also, as mentioned in another thread, OPUps (Biz to First) have been a pleasant bonus on some occasions.
I have had HON status since late 2004, which was pretty much the very beginning of the programme, and I must note a steady decline of service quality.

The current highlight is the LH classic of the month: Penne arrabiata, I guess it used to be a classic on short haul economy before it was enhanced to the main course on longaul biz.

So I landed at JFK, my old time fried HON PA was at the plane's door waiting for me. She told me that Immigration escort at JFK was gone for ever, but that there was no one in line. So I ran and got out in a breeze.
