Good riddance. I tried Gladstone's twice and had quite poor experiences both times.

Total waste of a great location. Haven't been back there in almost twenty years. Bad food, mediocre drinks and poor service.

It sounds like the county wants to raze the existing place and go with new construction.

Los Angeles Business Journal:
L.A. County Aims for Long Future at Gladstones Restaurant Site

Excerpt
“We’re asking that the property be repositioned,” said Carol Baker, a spokeswoman for the L.A. County Department of Beaches and Harbors, which manages the site. “Whether it remains with the same operator or not, we’re looking for significant upgrades.”

Beachside structures always require significant maintenance, she added, and the property needs additional improvements.

Supervisor Sheila Kuehl presented the plan to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, writing in a motion, “Because the existing facility is seriously deteriorated and outdated, the Department desires the successful bidder to construct an entirely new facility.”

The county takes about $1.7 million annually from Gladstone’s rent, but dropped the rate to about $900,000 this year in light of the restaurant’s “financial difficulties,” according to the motion.

Dinner at LAX for arriving DELTA and departing TBIT passengers

I'm gonna be picking up a friend on Delta Flight arriving 6:00pm or so at LAX. Another friend has an international flight departing at 11 pm at Tom Bradley.

We were thinking of going to airport early, pick up the 6:00pm flight passenger at delta, and then grabbing a quick meal somewhere near the airport.

Does TBIT have any restaurants that you don't have to be a passenger to eat at?

Is there nearby restaurant that we can go to outside the airport with easy parking? Something for a quick meal.

Paul Martin's american grille?

Just concerned about the time and getting other party to TBIT in time.

Thanx

Yes. See this chart:
and look at the second column which will has a "Yes" for those restaurants which are Before TSA.

They include Cantina Laredo and WPizza by Wolfgang Puck, plus a Pinkberry for dessert.

- Z's taproom on Century blvd.

"downtown" El Segundo

- Tavern on Main
- Next to Taven is this HUUUGE brewery that plays old school rock
- El Segundo brewery
- Just drive south on Sepulveda towards Mariposa. There are tons of restaurants (not fancy, but decent sit down restaurants). Takes less than 5 mins once you get out of LAX loop

You could just buy a fully refundable ticket, go through security and meet your friend. Cancel the ticket once you are inside. Have done this a couple of times with no problem.

Indeed.

We'll move this to the LA forum for more discussion.

There are two new options pre-security at TBIT.

From the November issue of LAX Connections:
Earl of Sandwich Debuts in the New Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT)
Earl of Sandwich, featuring signature hot sandwiches, wraps, salads and glutenfree menu items, is now open in the new Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), Upper/Departures Level, pre-security. For more information, click here.
