Sweet, crossing my fingers that its offered (12 hour flight in coach ugh), and that a nice clueless phone agent after the flight gets me the bonus miles ;P

AMS-CPH €159.

I used the Android app to check. Instead of showing the EB rows separately, these were now displayed in one map along with the first Y rows. When I selected one of the EB seats to check the price and then pressed cancel, I was taken directly to the proceed to payment page, which had no cancel or back option. Using the cell phone's back button worked, but my seat then still showed as EB. I had to restart the app to see my original seat again.

KL 1009 tomorrow, € 70 (which is cheaper than normal as I thought € 79 was the minimum).

E190 = no empty adjacent seat, so essentially € 159 for a sandwich. That amount of money will buy me enough groceries to last me a week, if not longer.

So, GBP 200 (EUR 245) for an upgrade to WBC on a long haul flight compared to EUR 159 for a 1 hour flight puts things in perspective...

Did you take it?

Hell yes!

I'm at the Crown Lounge in Lounge 3 now enjoying a champagne (ST Gold anyway) but may as well top up before the flight...

KL621 is zeroed out in all economy classes (there are at least 3 business class seats still on sale) - which explains the incredible upgrade offer!

Well done, and enjoy the flight!

Im doing my first KLM flight in 2 weeks, and so i dont know the bucket codes for them that well, ExpertFlyer shows it at Y9B9, but rest 0ed out. Am i correct in reading that as WBC is full but there are still coach seats open?

I think "Y" and "B" are full(ish) price economy buckets, so there are plenty (at least 9) of empty seats in economy. Are you sure there are no "Z," "C," or "I" fares shown? Maybe you just asked for availability for eco? If, indeed, it shows (say) "C0I0Z0", then WBC is full.

I pulled the flight up in expert flyer and it shows J0 C0 D0 I0 Z0 O0 Y9 B9 M0 U0 K0 H0 L0 Q0 T0 E0 N0 R0 V0 G0 X0. So guessing that it is truly full? Was really hoping for a chance to buy up and not spend 12 hours in coach lol
