A little after 11pm Saturday night, I was beginning to think they had found it.

Brisbane reported to be designated the frontrunner for 2032 Olympics. Wonder if this means the authorities are genuinely confident that Tokyo Olympics will go on this summer. If they weren’t, wouldn’t they want to give it some more time and keep that 2032 slot open (to potentially award Tokyo)?

I don't see why a country can't throw its hat in the ring regardless of what happens with the 2020 Games. The last time Tokyo forfeited an Olympics, it took them 24 years to get it back.

It looks like it’ll be at least another month, and maybe longer, before any announcements get made over fans --- domestic or foreign -- at the Olympics.

The new president of the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee stopped short of saying there would be no foreign fans at this year's games, but she certainly hinted at it Wednesday after online talks with IOC President Thomas Bach and others. The Japanese newspaper Mainichi reported Wednesday that the decision had already been made to exclude foreign fans. It cited only unnamed sources “involved in the discussions.”

Of course there will be foreign fans and no foreign fans will be excluded from attending the games. It's up to MoFA to grant landing permissions, not us. Throw in some more verbal contortions and an "in principal... therefore" and they've got the official press release.
Now the question is will there be refund for overseas spectators unable to attend or a weasel attempt to keep the money since the games are going ahead?

Tokyo Olympics: IOC's Bach 'very confident' fans will attend Games
Oh, I see. They put the quotes in the wrong place in the headline.
Tokyo Olympics: IOC's Bach very confident 'fans' will attend Games.
That's better!
