Can anyone tell me what the trick is to make this work?

With the possible exception of duc68 - whose post is actually a little unclear on the topic - I don't think anyone in thread has succeeded in having a discount applied to an application / renewal in NZ dollars.

But this programme, IMHO, remains an absolute steal. I simply renewed for NZ$289 (I'm in NZ). The $100 dining cert and $50 hotel charges cert can both be redeemed dollar for dollar in Australia - which makes them worth around NZ$189, which makes all the other benefits 'cost' only NZ$100. I'll make most of that back on one 'dining-with-a-partner' deal in Australia. That leaves the BOGOs and 25% off certs essentially free - and I've been keeping some of those anyway on recent 'take the benefit and keep your cert' deals.

OK, I'm giving up. I was unable to sign up at the NZ$ price (without any discount). I also was unable to sign up with the 10% off discount in A$. I haven't tried signing up for full price but I think this might not work either. Looks like something wrong with my renewal online.

Has anyone called them up and got a discount applied over the phone for their renewal?

Mine is due for renewal in Nov, and I strongly doubt I'll take it up again. I have used most of the benefits, like the BOGO but overall don't feel I got much more value (I certainly did, but just don't feel it) than I paid. For me it's a question of which hotels I use in Oz, and for most of my domestic travel, the IHG don't feature as prominently as they do overseas.

I tried doing it via the call centre for the Little Nomads discount, but got a short and somewhat brutal no-can-do.

The Priority Privilege site is currently down just when I need to get a bit of information! Can anyone tell me if there is still a 10% discount off best rates at the ICs in Shanghai and Bangkok? Any other benefits at these properties?

Phi Phi Island appears to be the only bookable property for Thailand.

There do appear to be some decent savings at the IC Shanghai Pudong.
Both the 10% off Best Flexible and Advance purchase are available & seem to offer a 20% discount!

I tried Nov 25-27 as a sample date & found 948 yuan instead of 1185 for the advance purchase & 1264 instead of 1580 for the best flexible.

Feel free to message me your dates if you want more specific info.

Thanks. The site is up again. I was looking at January and there is a 20% discount at the IC Pudong under the 10% rate query, and even lower rates than you came up with.

I have made a booking at Newcastle Crowne Plaza using 2 for 1. There are 4 adults and 1 baby so booked 2 rooms under same booking. Also, I have booked it for 4 nights, so first 2 come up as paid, final 2 as zero. It says on the conditions max 2 free nights so i assume these dates are ok - is that right? and is that still right with 2 rooms? PP reservations page lets you reserve for 4 adults so i assume it must be ok if they don't have any rooms for 4 adults. thanks for any tips :) Final question to throw in - the 2nd room might only be needed for the first 2 nights, would that throw the whole thing out altogether?

Curious, I have been able by using the PP portal to find the 10% discounts on hotels all through Asia, including at Bangkok and Tokyo. Quite good Advance Purchase rates too. Haven't actually concluded the booking on any of these, but is this common occurrence? Have these rates been honoured?

Cannot see whythey should not honour them, its probably using a direct rate code that assumes there is no commission payable so you get the saving.

When I was a member I used the discounted rates extensively around Asia without any issues - so long as you have a valid card it's fine. That being said, some of the rates were *quite* good (the HI Parkview Singapore and the HI Bandung in particular reguarly had significantly lower rates that I had booked without issue).

Warning if you sign up using a discount link!

I've finally managed to renew my membership using the HSBC 20% off promotion mentioned in this thread. Initially was told that they don't do discounts over the phone and I'd have to do it online (promotion specifically mentions to call them though :( ). After a few calls I was able to sign up as a new member over the phone.

When I asked whether that would make any difference I was told that the only thing that'll change is that my "member since" date on the card would not reflect the date I originally joined. I couldn't care less, so joined up.

Surprise when I received the membership pack and it didn't contain the $100 dining certificate. All other certs were included though.

After several emails with their extremely poor customer service team they basically told me that I had been informed that I would "loose my status" and that this meant no more $100 dining cert (would have been nice though if they had told me this when I asked them!). I even sent them an email earlier to ask whether joining as a new member would have any drawbacks...I never got a reply back.

I feel that apart from making you jump through hoops to renew your membership they also provide absolute poor customer service and be aware that you might loose out on the certificates if you join using a discount link.
