Has anyone else received a call regarding a Platinum level of Priority Privilege? I had let my Priority Privilege membership lapse last year due to a reduction in travel. I just got a call inviting me to rejoin at an invite only Platinum level of Priority Privilege for the same price as the normal program.
The main difference seems to be you receive two complimentary night stay certificates rather than buy one get one free certificates - there's a few other perks that were spieled off as well (late checkout and club access), but until I get the full T&C's I won't raise my expectations too high that they're anything better than you get through Priority Club anyway. Anyway, I've taken the plunge, so once the pack turns up in the letterbox I'll see if it lives up to the hype - at least there's 21 days to send it back if not. :D |

I will be travelling to the hotels included in this program enough during the next year that this appears to be a good value for me. However, before buying, I have some questions:
1) Will I have any problem with being US-based? 2) How do the benefits of this progam work in conjunction with Royal Ambassdor benefits? 3) Does your membership link automatically to your Priority Club account, or is this some sort of totally separate membership/website, etc.? Thanks for your help! |
fsa_ea,, maybe I can help with answering some of your questions.
1) Will I have any problem with being US-based? NO. I have been a member of Priority Privilege (PP) - Australia/New Zealand since 2003 and I live in Canada. The program was originally called Pacific Privilege and was renamed to Priority Privilege in 2004 (IIRC). When I joined, they had to make modifications to their system to accommodate North American addresses. Benefits are dependant on which country you choose to join in. There are common benefits to the general membership, but certificates are country based. 2) How do the benefits of this progam work in conjunction with Royal Ambassdor benefits? In my experience, I have had no problem having either my platinum or RA status recognized at hotels for benefit purposes. 3) Does your membership link automatically to your Priority Club account, or is this some sort of totally separate membership/website, etc.? Priority Privilege has its own membership/reservation website for booking reservations. It is located at: http://www.priorityprivilege.com/Priority_Privilege/ Membership is separate from Priority Club but they will link your PC number to your PP membership number. You must book your reservations using the PP website or contact the membership desk to get PP accommodation benefits . When using a PP certificate, you must select/identify the type of certificate being used. Some of the certificates are transferrable. More information on regional/country benefits is available at the PP website. Hope this helps. mxm135 :) |

fsa_ea, additonal responses to your questions:...
1 - Has this included the IC Sydney in your travels? (This is the hotel at which we would spend the most nights.) If so, are Priority Privilege BOGO rates available for Club Bay View/Opera rooms (to get RA upgrade of executive suite w/ club access)? Would using the BOGOs at this hotel cover the membership fee? Apparently, IC Sydney has now excluded club rooms from being available with the PP BOGO certificates. This was not the case in my last visit. They do allow the club rooms to be booked with the 25% off certificates, but this certificate cannot be used in conjunction with an IC BOGO. In addition to the accommodation benefits, there are significant dining benefits as well that combined with accommodation, more than cover the value of the membership fee of $ 289 AUD. 2 - Can this be accomplished online? If you must call, does this require an international long distance call? When booking online, the PP website links with the IHG website and presents the PP rates requested only. You can then enter your PC number at the top of the screen, or when you are about to complete the reservation. There is no need to call the membership desk, unless, the city/country location is not available online. In that case, it would involve an international call from the US but a local/toll free call from within AUS/NZ. 3 - Are you referring to the $50 hotel credit certificates? Can't you use the free night and 25% off certificates throughout the entire region? Each member country has its own certificate/local benefit package. The AUS/NZ membership certificates are valid in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji only. The dining and 10% off advanced/best rates benefits are valid throughout the Asia-Pacific region, but the certificates are country specific. For AUS/NZ this means the accommodation BOGO, 25% off certificates and the breakfast dining certificate and the $50 certificate are limited to AUS/NZ and Fiji only. Hope this helps.... mxm135 :) |

PP questions:
I am now based in Sydney and is very interested in the PP.
1. Booking throught PP and stay will get all the benefits of PP bonus points, welcome back bonus and all similar additional points as posted on the IC Promo threads? 2. For the 50% dining benefits at participating hotels, if I dine with my wife and my 7 year old kid, only ordering 2 main courses, will it be 33% or 50% off? Do kids count as adult guest? 3. Will the BOGOF cert be useful for any rate available on the web site exluding suites? 4. are their any promo going on the membership fee? I think I remember that there are some few years ago. |
markis10, when did you get these special offers? I have received the specials for January but not for February yet and I just could have used this at IC Melbourne two days ago
|
I got the email of the 3rd of Feb. In addition to the accom offers, there are some dining offfers here: http://www.priorityprivilege.com/PPANZFeb09Special.htm

Discounts apply for the number dining, however in most of the restaurants kids eat free, so for instance with me we often get breakfast for three for $30. 3. BOGO books at best flexible only. |

3. Priority Privilege Dining Discount can not be used in conjunction with any other dining discounts or offers, e.g. Kids Eat Free at Holiday Inn |

Although strictly speaking you can't use both offers:
Fortunately for most HI's they cannot charge for kids meals in the POS which means the covers are 2, so PP works well in that case. I generally use more of the hotels facilities if they show some flexibility with the rules, when they are rigid I tend to take my money elsewhere. |
YIPEE im going to SYD some great perks!^
