I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.
Is the Priority Privilege rate enjoyed (using coupon, discount, BOGO) qualified to earn points? (Is it a qualifying stay?) I'd appreciate comments on this. I am PP Asia member and my recent stay in HI using a coupon/certificate didn't earn points and registers as a non-qualifying stay. |
All paid nights on Priority Privilege rates are qualifying nights. The free night on a BOGO is not.
From PC Terms and Conditions Eligible Charges Worldwide include the following Qualifying Room Rates paid for hotel room nights: non-discounted rate, standard corporate rate, worldwide sales negotiated rate, national/regional/local government rate and specified leisure rates as confirmed by IHG's HOLIDEX® Plus reservation systems. Points will be awarded for Qualifying Room Rates booked through IHG central reservation offices, IHG web sites, travel agents or directly at the hotel. In addition, in North, South and Central America and the Caribbean, points may be collected on locally negotiated rates if these rates are discounted less than 30%. At Asia Pacific hotels, Qualifying Room Rates also include all locally negotiated rates. |
I ahve used a lot of PP rate (not in Australia) and I dont get credited with points on deeply discounted vouchers.
You will get the PC points on a BOGO certificate that they offer by claiming that the first night stay is a paid night in full. The second night is free. I just had a stay at the IC Manila using the PP BOGO voucher and after 5 days it reflected as a non-qualifying stay in my PC account. I emailed PC and stated the argument above and got 17,500 points ( including the PC codes promo here at the FT). Hope this helps. |

Thanks for your inputs davidrnz. That's what I thought so too since I've been getting points on all my PP stays since I became a member until my last stay. The PC Service Center is really giving me a hard time and will not credit my points/stay, saying that rates that are more than 30% discounted are not eligible for points/stay. I pointed out the T&C (w/c you also mention) in my 3rd correspondence with them but no answer yet. Let's see when they reply.
Thanks for the inputs Me2Earth. My last stay was actually in HI Manila using a PC voucher. I will certainly fight this out with them if they insist not to credit me points/stay. (see reply above) I would suggest you contact PP and get it in writing that all paid rates are eligible for points. |

You dont need to go that far, just ask the PC service centre to enforce their own regs in terms of locally negotiated rates for APAC:
"At Asia Pacific hotels, Qualifying Room Rates also include all locally negotiated rates." I'd even asked them to show me where in the T&C this 30% thing was they referred me to. |

Is PP worth it?
I am sorry if this has already been discussed, but with a PP membership costing A$289, one needs to stay many nights before this investment can be recouped. And having spent the money to buy a PP membership, one is almost obligated to stay at an IC group hotel whereas there are so many other opportunities available at other hotel chains nowadays.
So am I wrong in my thinking that PP membership is not that great a deal? |

PC Service Center finally gave in and credited my PP paid stay :D
Unfortunately, this is what they have to say: Dear Mr. luial, Thank you for your response. As previously mentioned, qualifying rates are computed according to the hotel's prevailing rack rate at the time of your stay. However, as a one time exception (:td:), the following has been credited to your account: Location: Manila, Philippines Date: 19 February 2009 Nights: 1 Points: 14,678 (this includes the bonus points) Your current point balance is xxx, xxx. The above adjustment should be available for immediate viewing in your online account which can be accessed at http://www.priorityclub.com/account. Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Attached is the link to our service centers' phone numbers page: http://www.priorityclub.com/contactus Sincerely, XXX Priority Club Rewards |

Joined 1 month ago for about $AU220 - thanks futaris for the discount link http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/11205171-post106.html
I have had 3 two night stays in Sydney in the last month using the PP monthly newsletter offers and saved a total of $AU230 on these 3 stays alone compared to the usual lowest rate that I pay - a Government Rate. It has definitely proven to be good value in just a few stays. |
