Hi, KPC. I'm sorry that I didn't reply to your post. I've just read it now.

Also, thank you, markis10, for answering his question instead of me.

I hope many people enjoy this privilege. It's great!

If you mean Darling Harbour version of CP in Sydney, then no exact match for your room, but

Priority Privilege Members Advance Purchase Rate
$203.00 AUD
Average Nightly Rate 1 QUEEN BED CITY VIEW NONSMOKING
$219.00 AUD
Average Nightly Rate 2 DOUBLE BEDS CITY VIEW NONSMOKING
$272.00 AUD
Average Nightly Rate 1 CLUB FLOOR KING CITY VIEW NONSMOKING

The web site has some issues and you have highlighted one of them, there is no reason why you should not get 10% of these public rates:

Advance Purchase
$200.00 AUD
Average Nightly Rate 1 QUEEN BED CITY VIEW NONSMOKING
$228.00 AUD
Average Nightly Rate 1 KNG BD DARLING HARBOUR VIEW NONSMOKING
$268.00 AUD
Average Nightly Rate 1 CLUB FLOOR KING CITY VIEW NONSMOKING
$284.00 AUD
Average Nightly Rate 1 KNG CLUB FLOOR HARBOUR VIEW NONSMOKING
$276.00 AUD
Average Nightly Rate 1 KING BED SUITE CLUB ACCESS NONSMOKING

As you can see the PP web site is actually dearer than the public advance purchase rates and has less room options, I have seen this many times in the past and in cases like this I ring the reservations centre who quote the public rates less 10%. I always check now as a result, sometimes discounts are not discounts!

I don't know enough about how the website works, but surmise that it may be that something has not been loaded properly.

I think it works both ways as sometimes the discounts are better or worse than the 10% mentioned.

Priority Privilege Platinum?

Has anyone else received a call regarding a Platinum level of Priority Privilege? I had let my Priority Privilege membership lapse last year due to a reduction in travel. I just got a call inviting me to rejoin at an invite only Platinum level of Priority Privilege for the same price as the normal program.

The main difference seems to be you receive two complimentary night stay certificates rather than buy one get one free certificates - there's a few other perks that were spieled off as well (late checkout and club access), but until I get the full T&C's I won't raise my expectations too high that they're anything better than you get through Priority Club anyway.

Anyway, I've taken the plunge, so once the pack turns up in the letterbox I'll see if it lives up to the hype - at least there's 21 days to send it back if not. :D

I expect it's marketing spin, sugar coating some extra offers that threw in to entice you back:)

I still think it's an absolute steal.

Priority Privilege seem to be offering more & more offers as the credit crunch finally sinks in across Australasia. Several hotels are offering 2 nights for the price of 1 & 25% off without having to use the certificates until the end of January to PP members .
The new IC in Melbourne, the CP's at Darling Harbour, Coogee, Hunter Valley, Christchurch & Queenstown & the HI's Potts Point, Surfer's Paradise & Sydney Airport are all offering the 2 for 1/no certificate deal until the end of January.

It's shame there aren't PP schemes on other continents ( excluding the limited offers on Malaysia, Hong Kong & the Philippines)

I agree, just under $300 for 7 free nights (mostly at $300+ IC's), free breakfast, some hotel credit, and a couple of 25% off bookings as well, pity they took it off the points list for redeemptions, I might have to pay real cash this year ! And thats not mentioning the dining benefits.

perthite Jan 16, 2009 5:52 pm

A steal-yes, but some of the telemarketing is a bit OTT. Last year they claimed I was on the highest level - Foundation Member. Now there's another one above it, platinum member?

Marketing spin I tell ya :)
