Most important points to consider for a valid BRG:
1. The comparison website MUST bill in the same currency as the hotel .
2. The cancellation terms must be equal or better, than the terms by the hotels.
3. The Website needs to provide INSTANT confirmation.
4. The room names should match, but if you can demonstrate, that the room is comparable, it will also work with discrepancies in the name.
5. The price difference has to be more than either USD 1 or 1% (whichever is higher).
5.b In regards to hotels located in australia and New Zealand the price difference must be greater than 3% .
Hotels for which you will get reimbursed:
(Note: There have been significant problems with getting full reimbursements from IHG, especially for reimbursements in other currencies than USD)
IC Istanbul ( BRG claim from the 17.05.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")
IC Frankfurt ( BRG claim from the 20.08.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

You could book the Best flex rate and then PHONE the agents to file a claim.
They will say it's not valid.
Then get them to confirm and possibly stay on the phone that if you book the ADVP rate that WILL be valid compared to the third party.
If they agree, stay on the phone, change the booking to ADVP and voila ^
Your Free night will still (in theory ) be non cancellable, so make sure you stay!

I made a reservation on Saturday and called two minutes later with my first BRG claim. It was accepted over the phone, but the gentleman said that I would be receiving an email from IHG evidencing my BRG claim had been approved after he had emailed the hotel to confirm the rate of $0 with the hotel. It is now Monday afternoon. How long does the follow-up confirmation email usually take when your BRG claim is handled by telephone? As an aside, nothing has changed rate-wise with my reservation on priorityclub.com.

I just called for the claim, and after about an hour phone call (mostly on hold) I got a confirmation number for a one night stay that would have cost over $300.

My last successful BRG claim took nearly two weeks for the change in rate email confirmation from the BRG department. The reservation details page never did change, but the assistant manager from the hotel made an international call four days after my claim to let me know that he had personally taken care of the change. The BRG department is so very slow.

It's getting a bit comical now. Got an email today from IHG, saying the previous email was unfortunately wrong and that they would not be able to honor both nights and that the second night would not be free. They were already thanking me for my, non-existant, understanding. They also said that they advised the hotel to charge my credit card immediately.

One of my favorite websites is hoteltravel.com for the comparison. Not gonna say more than that, please do not send me PMs asking for details. I'll help where I can but the PM overload is crazy.
You're allowed 1 every rolling 30 day period, so June, July, August.

well what do you all think of this. Got a BPG confirmed as valid over the phone but the next day they said they had made a mistake BUT they would honour it and give me it free as a one off - so fair play to them BUT i still don't get it.
I booked a room which included complimentary access to club lounge/breakfast and the third party website had the same room but didnt mention the club lounge/breakfast but since it was complimentary was there a need to mention it eg booking this type of room always comes with complimentary lounge access just as the holiday inn express comes with free breakfast but the third pary websites dont always say that. Get my point?

If you know for a fact - because you have verified it with the hotel, for example - that the third party booking would necessarily include lounge access, then it goes back to the IHG reps having only the simplest of training and authority. As we all start to understand this, we should act accordingly when we make claims. (Break things down as simply as possible and get things in writing.)

The email confirmation finally came today - five days later, but it did indeed verify that the BRG claim was verified and approved. I saved over $250 on a room in DC in September. The rate has not been reduced but it does show as modified on the reservations screen on priorityclub.com although it appears as if nothing I can see has changed.
