Which service is this?

Sprint (note the EVO model) with being an old or Premier customer, and a bit of "gaming" the system...

My friend has something similar, but it would be helpful if we could gain access to this info! :p

Edited to Add: BTW, how do you deal with roaming outside the US (and possibly Canada) on Sprint?

Then all of sudden he got very friendly. I know how to stand firm when I'm not treading on water. Both of these laptops are used so I guess I'm OK.
Thanks!

IME, if u have something which u can prove to be of personal or official use , then its no problem.. Like u have 2 laptops, 1 Ipad, 1 Iphone, 1 digicam with searate lenses, even 2 wrist watches...This can be justified as all personal and I did not have problems till now with these..
But say, u being multiple of the above and they are all in the new packaging..hmm.. then u may be needing to pay customs duty etc..

I don't know - in BOM they were freaking out and grabbing my laptop bag after screening it, asking "ipad?, ipad", "do you have an ipad in there??".

(I carry a lot of MacGyver-type stuff as a road warrior - one never knows. But I definitely didn't have an ipad, ipod or whatever, so I said no...)

Maybe this has died down a bit, since that was like 3-6 months after it was introduced!

Sprint's signal really sucks....IMHO.

THe last two times I transited DEL ..no one asked me about what electronics I had. I guess if you just hand that form and keep walking...you are good to go.

In MAA, there is the post-arrival xray of your carry-on luggage. I guess they could figure out if you have two laptops, etc.

Is this Xray thingy done in other places such as BOM/CCU, etc (Xray just after immigration but before baggage claim).

Like I said, if u hv 1 IPad and its what u r using , then no problem .. but if u r bringing multiple ones and all r packged and in mint condition, then they know that its for others and then can catch u..
Basically IME, u can bring whatever u want which u actually use since u would be able to justify it.. but if caught can anyone justify having 3 IPad's, 3IPods's and looking new
I myself always have 2-3 cell phones, 2 laptops, digi cam, mp3player and never had a problem since those are for regular use..

Mostly outside US, its Tango from my work Android to keep in touch with family. Sprint being CDMA offers no roaming in Europe. When traveling to Europe, India, Australia, I've prepaid cards from each area, and just swap the sim. So yeah I carry multiple handsets when traveling.

USD 45 is a commitment? I don't remember my brothers having their Airtel bill less than INR 3K ever since they got the service when it was launched and if you add data to it, it really piles on in India too. Airtel 3G with 3 gb cap is about 899INR ~ USD20 and add txt/calls and you end up spending more in India than $45. This is not taking into consideration the roaming you pay within India.

But to each its own and I completely agree with you about flexibility in India but its anywhere where GSM service is except in US.

Why doesn't the US have GSM? Is there a benefit with CDMA?

Some carriers have GSM like At&T and T-mobile but even those operate on principle of subsidized handsets but long term contracts. What I was referring to was flexibility with GSM everywhere except US where you are tied into long term contracts regardless of distributing technology.

How much grief would I get from IGI Customs for bringing in 2 laptops, they are both used, one for work, one for personal torrents ;)
If it matters traveling with my toddler. I know customs website says allowance is 1 laptop/pax over 18yrs age.

Anybody with experience in this regard?

Thanks!

You should have no problems. Especially if they are used.

I'm in if the timing is right - however, don't want to overnight in DEL unless I have to...

Sounds good. BTW, I'm in BOM next weekend, staying at the IC near the airport. Let me know if you fancy a drink or dinner!

awesome, would be great to catch up with you again. I forget whose turn it is, but I definitely owe you a dinner or two, after our last meetings in SIN! ;)

P.S. I quite like Singh Sahib at the IC, and the Chinese isn't a bad option either!
