no england? They are the only ones I am most confident of seeing in the semis. It is very much anybody else in the semis. Australia love big tournaments. India/Sri Lanka at home. Pakistan as unpredictable as ever. SA I expect will be knocked out in the quarters.

Any reason why no super-sixes(or eights) this time? (Sorry, not paid too much attention to the world cup news)

the last time was in 2008 IIRC! That was quite sometime back. Since then the english teams has gone on to be much better. Of course, if the recent aussie odi series is something to go by, they arent doing too well :-).

Semi-final lineup will be Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia and England.

India will crash out early amid much finger pointing. Blame will eventually be placed on Lalit Modi.

Does anyone know how a target can increased when the overs for a team batting second are the same as the first team? I'm baffled how we were asked to chase 268 when SA hit only 260ish?

D/L. Basically SA did not know they would bat a lesser number of overs when they started. Had they known that, they would have batted differently. (or so is the theory). The target score is a value that is dependent on the number of runs scored, the number of wickets lost (I think at both points, interruption and finally), the number of overs for the chasing team and wickets in hand.

It is actually much fairer than most folks believe so, but once in a while it does give absurd numbers.

I agree but I think you missed that Kalmadi was working hand in hand with Modi and hence blame will be co-distributed :)

Looking at the progress of the Eden Garden, I won't be surprised if Dalmia and company took some pages out of Kalmadi's crook book:rolleyes:
