I'm probably the only person who was not worried as long as YKP was still batting.

neither was i....i have seen him win impossible games in the ipl, 20-20 & ranji formats....so i was sure we would win as long as he stuck it out....

Good way to bust a windshield...

Better to start the car and put the fan on full, with defrost setting.

After the engine warms up and loosens up the ice, then have at it manually!

Takes ages doing it that way. yesterday my car warmed up after almost 10 miles of driving.

Folks, how serious is it if one does not file Indian taxes on time? My wife worked in India during Q1 in 2009, but has not done it. I have heard some rumours that one can get arrested at airports (US) if taxes are not filed. Is that true in the US and India?

Not in my experience...but who knows what the future may bring!

(I would think that this *would* happen if they detect you owe a (blank)-load of money to them, and haven't bothered, rather than not having paid the respective taxes in advance/have had it deducted...)

Yes, but what will only happen is that she will be penalized using a formula that the indian IT authorities use...better to get moving on it asap - that's all...

One of my friends from home forwarded me a link. It appears that the TSA at my local airport (JAN) felt the need to grope Meera Shankar while she was on official duty visiting the State of Mississippi.

The Indian Income tax rules state that anyone earning above the minimum taxable amount need to submit their return even if no taxes are payable..
Ur wife worked as an employee or as self employed..as u are saying Q1 2009, it would be financial year 2008-09 .. She needs to file a return if her income for 2008 -09 was more than INR 180000.. the last date was 31.3.2010 but I guess u can file a delayed return paying a fine of INR 5k IIRC..

Never heard anyone getting arrested unless there was a big tax demand raised for taxes payable and if that was not paid etc..

This can happen if the Income tax demand has sent a notice of demand or some other legal notice.. they will not simply stop u in the airport if u hv not filed the tax return IME..
