+1... I recall the earlier incident where our ex president APJ Abdul Kalam was also humiliated by IIRC Continental airlines in New delhi airport even after he had cleared security !!

IMHO, lets give them back in the same manner and maybe then will understand then.. lets subject their diplomats to the same security checks etc.. I hv always seen diplomats being treated like royalty in our airports..

I did not see Obama and his wife getting frisked in India while they were there.

Also known as = Double Standards, which is one of the things the USA is famous for.

Apparently the Indian Government has filed some sort of complaint/whatever.
Whats the use?

I don't have any confidence in anything happening. I doubt anything happened to Kalam.

Some reports said Ms Shankar, who was on her way from a conference, was singled out because she was wearing a sari.

and this built in inferiority complex is painful, since it means they hv superiority complex even though the past 10 years has all been BRIC countries ^^
Our behaviour needs to change and we should be treated and also treat them as equals.. We should be demanding this IMO..

You are right. I have been guilty myself of this sort of behaviour. However, Its taken me many years to understand this and get to work on eliminating it from my brain.

While we are on this subject who all are not allowed to be frisked when departing from a airport within India? I believe Sonia Gandhi and her family is one of them or so I heard.

So say if they are flying to say the UK then do they not need to get any security checks done?

the list is only for airports in india....so if they go outside the country then they can be subject to a search....but it is common sense & respectful to not search senior dignitaries....

I am thankful for one of the lessons I learned on my dad's knee: "you are greater than no one, and no one is greater than you."

The UK has a similar list that includes the Royal Family, Foreign Heads of State, Ambassadors and High Commissioners among others.
