Another question - I am planning on using US air miles to fly Business/First from St Louis to Delhi. Any suggestions on good airlines in the star alliance network to fly business/first?

Swiss has a good product to DEL too. Go via JFK and you get the new Biz/First through to DEL.

If you can go via LAX you have TG non stop to BKK with a hop over to DEL. Again TG operates new biz on both the flights. Although not on the 747 which they fly to DEL on certain days now.

Thanks - I would like to try the TG option via Bangkok - stop over there for a couple nights and then onwards to DEL.. So I would like to try TG's new business class.. so - are you saying that if the aircraft is any other than the 747 - the product is the new business class?

Do you know if booking this award through US air miles is an option - I have heard mixed reviews on that and when trying to book through US air chairmans preferred desk, this was not mentioned..
Thanks

One option is CO STL-EWR-DEL. BusinessFirst on CO is a nice product. It gets in to DEL at 920PM, which is very convenient.

I remember answering this exact question in a different thread....did you ask this question elsewhere?

you may have - i am lookin for more perspectives/options like SING/TG

I think lallyr is saying that the DEL market has 747 with old C seats on some days and other aircraft with new C seats on other days.

For LAX-BKK market, they operate A345 ...it has the new C. Keep in mind, this is still not a flat bed.

US airways can make that booking for you if you point out that option. They will usually fly you TATL for India.
You have to return TPAC if you go there TPAC. They wont let you do TPAC one way and TATL the other...that will become an RTW.

You have to start looking soon if you want 3 seats all on the same flights (or maybe you want two seats with a lap child?).

Forget SQ as an option; Unless you want to try STL-JFK-FRA-SIN-DEL and back. That will be on SQ 25/26. Its a possibility to find seats on those 744;s.

From March 2011, SQ 11/12 (LAX-NRT-SIN) will be converted to A380 (and therefore you cannot redeem for upper class awards...unless you ticket those dates right now.....).

All other SQ routes are not possible to redeem with US Air awards in business or first class. (SQ blocks those seats from Star Partners).

You can find all of the above info in SQ forum / Star A forum / US air forum.

As snod confirmed they operate a A345 from LAX to BKK which is the new biz and you are guaranteed a new almost Lye flat bed. From BKK to DEL they operate a 772/773/330 and 747. You really need to see what flight you are booking on and only the 772/773 will have the new biz. The 747 has the oldest biz seat and the 330 has a decent enough seat for the 4hr flight. But both of these older configs don't have the On demand IFE. With TG though it really is a lottery, I was booked on a 773 a few weeks back and upon boarding it was a A330.

You should be able to get this through *A miles as its a valid routing from the west coast. Not sure from where you are.

You will need to give it to them flight by flight as somehow this flight never comes up on a *A partner search.

Let me know if you want further details I took this flight a while back.

Indeed but FRA-SIN-DEL is not a valid routing so you will find that hard to ticket.

I would suggest booking up on the 744 from NRT to LAX as that will turn into a A380 early next year.

.

Yes, it seems TG is often a lottery with what aircraft will be used.

Very important point! You have to do your homework before calling.

People in Star Alliance forum are reporting booking the NRT-LAX route as a 744 award for next year, but the booking shows them to be in A380. If you want this, you need to book really really fast. I am sure SQ will quickly figure this out and start blocking awards on that route as well.

SQ flies: LAX-NRT-SIN and back the same way.

For redeeming SQ upper class awards from the USA through most Star partners:

LAX-NRT-SIN = Currently allowed on the 744; Will stop soon as the a/c changes to A380 in March

JFK-FRA-SIN = currently allowed (on 744)

SFO-HKG-SIN = 77W; Not allowed to redeem
SFO-ICN-SIN = 77W; Not allowed to redeem

LAX-SIN non-stop = A345 = Not allowed to redeem

EWR-SIN non-stop = A345 = Not allowed to redeem.
