Hello,

Just discovered this forum today. I + 3 will be travelling to UK in Mid September for 2 weeks. I have been shopping online for tickets / hotels etc. First trip to UK and am wondering if this is the best way, or a Travel Agent?

All the sites seem to have pretty much the same prices, Is there any way to get special deals ? And what would be the best airlines to travel on in this sector?

TIA

Welcome.

I am more of a domestic traveler within India and not very familiar with overseas routes and airlines and their performance. As mentioned in the OP, I have been shopping online, and there seems to be no real difference in prices, site to site or direct airline sites.

The things of importance are, on time performance, Seat comfort, and a short layover if there is one. What would be a good airline on this sector to choose? The miles would be useful only if they could be used domestically, or as a family unit since I/ we do not plan on travelling often.

Wonder if OP can buy miles on a US airline ? Cheaper than buying tickets ? ?

Watch out for UK APD, higher for premium cabins.

Could call them them and ask.

I just figured I get about 19,000+ JP miles on each Jet ticket using my HDFC card. Would Jet be a good option?

What about 1 stop flights - Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, Oman

Omain is not a first choice, but its the cheapest by a wide margin, and could get even sweeter, only downside, it has one flight a day, if you miss the connection, you are stuck.

What is Airline policy if you miss the connection?
