Sorry should have clarified. Meant crediting your DL/AF/KL flight to AS.

as it is i have too many miles in different programs....i think i'm just going to stick with 9w, ai, ua & ba for now....

keyser you may have already thought of and rejected this, but if the difference isn't too much and if it's worth it to you, you could look into paying the difference yourself.

I've done it several times in the past - get travel to bill the firm upto the sanctioned amount and to bill you the rest. save the points for next time and earn the cabin bonus.

i used to do that earlier but its frowned upon....my finance guys say that if they allow me to do it then they can't stop others from doing it as well....i guess its just more paperwork for them which they want to avoid....i respect that....

its not that big a deal though....the klm ticket is just within my budget & my ta says he may be able to get me a ua fare for the same amount....if that happens then ua it is otherwise i'll just stick with ai & use the miles to upgrade....i have plenty with 9w & ai so 67.5k ai miles for an upgrade is definitely doable....

Mine I am allowed to do that. Others also do it to get essential TODs with a new UA corporate rate that only applies to YBM fares and all premium class fares.
(This includes cheap VUPs that with the discount can be less than an S/T fare and are usually reasonable for the price.)

nothings stopping me from doing so as well but like i said before, its not encouraged....

either way, my ta is getting me a fare for inr 1.63 lakhs, which is just under $3k on ua....direct flight from del-ewr & then connecting in fra on the way back....so all well that ends well....:)

just as i was about to book the ua flight, 9w reduces its fare to inr 1.68 lakhs, which comes to $3,027....guess i'll go with that now....:)

Haha... Good job. That initial quote was rather ridiculous (and not just because it was from Jet).

That said, what I meant earlier was to ask the travel agent to only send one bill to your firm's accounts department (and to send you the other one for the balance).

That way there's no complications for anyone and they shouldn't have a problem (anyway, what they don't know...)

Those that have flown Jet and Virgin before would you know what the differences in the seat are? I thought Jet's seat is longer and wider. Am I right?

that's normally what i did & paid the ta the extra bit myself....but my accounts department asks for the ticket as well which has the full ticket amount....that was the problem....

anyway, the jet ticket i'm going to book myself using the new jet icici card....the whole thing will get me another 50k miles total....not bad for one business class flight....

So guys, these AI GA's how strict are they with the carry on bag weighing 8kgs (17.xlbs)?

Do they actually weigh the carry on here in the US? (EWR tbp)?

Would appreciate some insight into this.

Cheers!

They occasionally weigh it and/or check the dimensions. Depends on many things- flight load, how the passenger is dressed, how easily the passenger is carrying it, the mood of the gate agent, etc. They typically at least eyeball your carry on.

I am gonna be carrying a Vespa duffel and a swissgear laptop trolley bag (2 compartment)

The duffel may weigh more than 8kgs, but will sit on top of the trolley's handle, What is the worst they can do?

Make me gate-check it in?

Is my thinking right?

Cheers!
