is it just me or do del-nyc rates seem to be at an all time high at the moment????

i'm scheduled to travel in mid january & this particular client gives me a $3k allowance for my air ticket....over the years i have never had a problem finding a business class ticket on either 9w or ai for that amount....ai seems to be around $4k & 9w $5.5k during my travel dates....

infact, the only airline that falls within my travel budget this time is china eastern airlines....

as usual there seems to be no availability for an upgrade on 9w so i'm buying a ticket in 'v' class on ai & using miles to upgrade....

any other suggestions welcome....

same experience here. DEL-USA rates seem to be crazy expensive at the moment on all the usual suspects.

Keyser - check CX on the CX website itself (not on Expedia, TA etc). I recently saw DEL-ORD-DEL and DEL-YYZ-DEL etc in J via HKG for about just under 1.7 L INR. That should be in your budget, given the $ is at 55!

Not sure how your billing part works but often its easier and cheaper to buy FF miles and do this. DEL-USA I normally pay around $2k return for. I know availability and changes can be a pain but it saves me a lot.

cx is inr 1.8 lakh, dl is 1.65 lakhs, ai is 1.97 lakhs & 9w is 2.7 lakhs (:eek:)....

delta falls just within my budget but i would much rather travel on ai or 9w....at this point i'm debating whether to buy an ai economy ticket in 'v' class for 1.04 lakhs & use 67,500 miles to upgrade or just book on dl for 1.65 lakhs & credit the miles to 9w....

Book on DL. You can get segments to/from DEL operated by KL or AF and the J product is quite acceptable. Lie flat seats and good food. DL on the transatlantic segments (if you so choose) is also quite okay.

Personally, I would credit to either DL, AF or KL. Open a new account if you have to. And if you credit to DL, you can top up using premier miles (where DL is a transfer partner) and get a decent award ticket out of it too.

on which airline????on ai i need to have a 'v' class or higher ticket to upgrade & will need 67.5k miles to upgrade....buying in that class & the miles will take me over $3k....i would normally just book the cheapest ticket on 9w for around inr 60k & use miles or vouchers to upgrade but they have no availability & the cheapest economy fare is inr 1.03 lakhs....

on the other hand i have enough miles on ai for a round trip but not sure how my finance department would view this....:p

all 4 segments will be on kl....final price comes to $2,946....

only problem with that is i don't use either of those airlines on a regular basis....my regular airlines are 9w, ai, ba & ua....

Credit to DL. Earn about 25-30k from the trip itself. This gives a domestic US award, in the lowest band, and you can top up using PM miles for a better award or a domestic F award...

Then go back to your usual carriers.
