Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Call the hotel directly and arrange the transportation.

Diamond upgrade at Indian Wells

Used a Diamond cerificate this last weekend at Indian Wells, called x 2 before we went as we wanted a suite with 2 beds, on check in was told we had a Penthouse suite but only one bed and sofa sleeper, told about tel conversations did find us one with 2 beds. Suite was nice about 700 sq foot, large balcony , seperate bedroom, extra toilet. But very "tired" looking , musty smell, old furnature. Also was looking forward to fireplace but not working according to maintenance none were working they were doing work on them, so a bit disappointing. Got coupons for breakfast as Regency Club was closed could use in resturant or deli.Kids didnt want breakfast in restaurant so was able to get yogurts, fruit , juice with just one coupon for both kids.
All in all good experience

1. Name and location of hotel - Hyatt Lake Tahoe Resort
2. Suite type (and link of room from hyatt.com individual property page if possible) - Lakeside Cottage King ( http://laketahoe.hyatt.com/hyatt/hot...ocale=&start=2 )
3. # of Sq Ft - 875
4. # of Bedrooms (Studio/Jr/1/2) and # of Bathrooms (1/1.5/2) - 1/1.5
5. Were you happy with the upgrade? What grade would you give it (A/B/C/D/F) A++
6. Any other info (location/view/relative price vs normal rooms/etc) and pics if you want - We received an upgrade to a Upper Lakeside Cottage suite. This is definitely not a standard upgrade but the hotel is lightly occupied and we are only haere for two weekday nights. The room is great, balcony with lake view (not very useable in December). Large living area with vaulted ceiling and fireplace. The room is stocked with firewood. Large bedroom with sitting area. 3 TV's (2 large HDTV in bedroom and living room and a smaller one in the bathroom), Stereo system and dvd player. The cottages are separate from the main building which is plus for privacy but drawback for using the RC. Prepay price for room is $495/nt we are paying $123.50 ^^

benmaller, congratulations. That is just amazing. Stayed in one of those years ago on a revenue stay. Almost like living in Incline. Well, almost.

Apologies if this question has been covered but as a new Diamond I was wondering how the majority of hotels deal with stays which combine free nights with paid nights.

I am considering a 5 night stay at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai using either 2 or 3free nights while paying for the first 2. If I can confirm a suite upgrade for the first 2 nights what are the chances that the hotel would move me to a normal room for the remainder of my stay?

Many Thanks

If they go strictly by the rules, they could make you move to a "regular" GC room. However, if they are not busy and are generous, they could let you remain in the suite - there have been reports of some properties doing this so you may luck out.

Pay for three nights and use two as free nights. GP will tell u it's at the discretion's property. I've never had a hotel move me, but I've always had a majority of paid nights which may well swing the decision. I also call the property and determine the hotels property. It's a good indicator when a certain Park Hyatt says "It's not guaranteed, but you've got a 99% chance of keeping that room."

Hyatt Regency Century Plaza

1. Hyatt Regency Century Plaza - Los Angeles
2. Century Suite (http://centuryplaza.hyatt.com/hyatt/...ocale=&start=9)
3. 700
4. 1 Bed / 1.5 Bath
5. B. It was fine. Nothing exciting. I preferred my suite at the IC.
6. Location is ok. Next to Westfield Mall which is nice. Business-y area, but a 10-15 minute drive to the touristy stuff. Booked Basic King at Gov't Rate (135/night), Century Suite is 469/night for 'Hyatt Daily Rate'.

Interesting to see the different suites people are getting here. I received a "suite connector" though, based on the description, someone else was told it was the presidential suite. A rose by any other name ...

Modified slightly from a post above.

1. HR Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa & Casino, Incline Village, NV

2. "Connector suite", though someone else above said front desk referred to it as Presidential Suite. (Another connecting door off the other side of the living room could turn this into a two-bedroom suite.)

3. Likely about 1300 square feet. Bedroom about 400 feet and dining/living about 800-900. Situated well away from elevators.

4. Double-door entry from hall to living area. Single-door entry from hall to bedroom. King bedroom with door separating it from the living/dining area. There are full baths in both rooms. Living room had a 6-person sectional (that makes into a bed); dining room table for 6; wetbar w/sink, small fridge. Several benches and chairs provide more seating.

5. B+. View was mountain as opposed to lake. But considering the price this has been going for (I feel like they're paying me to stay) - A.

In my case, with the upgrade to the cottage suite, I had previously called the resort and requested a fireplace suite (knowing that only the lake cottages have fireplaces ). The FD upgraded us based on that request, although I'm sure that the other factors of our stay figured into the upgrade, 2 weekday nights and lightly occupied hotel. YMMV

If I call the diamond line to try to use a confirmed suite upgrade for my stay at either the Hyatt Mission Bay or Manchester GH and they say it's not available right away by checking their computer, is that the final say?
Does asking them to call the property or trying again closer to the date of travel have any chance of working?
