Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

If it's just a large Suite that can only be booked as a single room, then I don't THINK that it will show up as 2 rooms, rather a room with some type of Suite description.

As far as an Andaz Exec King (38 sq. meters) being acceptable as a Suite at Andaz London, I personally would think not. After all if they meant for that room to be a Suite, then they would have named it a Suite. A regular Andaz King (granted it's larger than 3 other room types) is 29 sqm. An Andaz Suite King is 49 sqm. You should be getting put into the Andaz Suite King IMHO. You might call GP once (or twice if you get a bad agent the first time) to see what kind of room you are assigned to with your Suite upgrade. If they tell you the Exec King, then tell them that is not a Suite and escalate it up the chain until you get satisfaction would be my suggestion. ^

Well this is a bit of a late follow up, but when I checked in I was told I got an upgrade, but only to an Andaz Exec King. I emailed Customer Affairs after the fact and they replied that they were sorry to have misled me, but hotels only have certain rooms contracted as suite upgrades, and for Andaz London it is a Exec King. As compensation they gave me 6000 points which is pretty poor considering I can't even book one nights stay with that.

Why they didn't tell me that in the first place I don't know. I'm pretty p...ed off at the "benefit" considering the T&C say that a suite upgrade means a room with one bedroom.

They should not have misled you about your confirmed room assignment. They really should have restored the suite upgrade to your account, but they probably gave you the 6,000 points so you could use it for a suite upgrade without expiration.

Grand Hyatt Melbourne

Grand Suite King http://www.melbourne.grand.hyatt.com...ocale=&start=8

80-sq.-metres. Stunning views over Melbourne CBD and the Yarra river, right out to the beaches of Melbourne.

1 bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms and 1 combined living dining area. Room size equates to 2 standard hotel rooms. Interestingly only the reception/lobby/club have been renovated as part of the $40million refurb, however it appears the rooms will be refurbed later this year. The room was very nice, apart from some uninspiring artwork, alarm clock/room controls from the 80s and an outdated shower (not even a watersaving showerhead which amazed me).

Very happy with the upgrade. First stay as a Diamond. Drove the hire car to the valet, within 20 secs the Duty Manager was at reception to greet me and offered a private check-in in the club lounge. Escorted to the lounge, seemless check-in, then escorted to the suite where champagne, strawberries and dipping chocolate as well as handwritten note from the GM awaited. It appears that Hyatt continues to treat Diamonds as VIPs (very different to SPG), and through the VIP register for staff, every employee is aware of who you are, and goes above and beyond.

Ok - I'm cluttering up this thread but I think that this might be a function of being booked (confirmed) in a suite - in August at the PH Vendome Paris, the front desk called the Rooms Manager to escort us to the suite that we had booked (on points) and at HR Mainz the desk clerk escorted us to the suite (using one of these confirmed suite upgrades) to complete check-in and had the housekeeping manager waiting in the suite also.

I don't think so. I used to work at a Hyatt many years ago, and on top of the daily briefing a list of VIPs is distributed to all staff. Apart from celebrities, GMs of major companies, Diamonds were also listed (though further down the VIP rankings).

Has this not happened on all your stays as a Diamond? (It was my first so I can't judge yet!) I do know similar guest management comes into force when I have been VIP'd at Starwood properties, and not for status of room type.

No, these were the most personalized reception I've gotten (with the exception of the in-room check-in at the PH Tokyo - but I believe that is pretty customary there). I've been a Diamond for about 6 years - perhaps Diamonds were rarer when you worked for Hyatt.

Or perhaps an Hyatt Australia practice? I'm using Diamond upgrades on my trip to the states, will be interesting to compare.

Hyatt Calgary

1. Name and location of hotel
Hyatt Regency, Calgary

2. Suite type (and link of room from hyatt.com individual property page if possible)

http://calgary.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotel...ocale=&start=5
Parlour/Bedroom linked rooms, 21th floor

3. # of Sq Ft

Confirmation email say something about 800 Sq Ft, but I highly doubt it.

4. # of Bedrooms (Studio/Jr/1/2) and # of Bathrooms (1/1.5/2)

Normal one-bedroom, king bed with bathroom; Parlour room with sofa (Not a fold out bed) and table, no bed, bathroom.

5. Were you happy with the upgrade? What grade would you give it

Indifferent about the upgrade, for this property a B (no view to speak of)

6. Any other info (location/view/relative price vs normal rooms/etc) and pics if you want
Ordinary checkin, nothing special. Amenity card offered.
Hyatt daily rate at CAD 1600 who in the right mind!

Kept receiving double advance emails since each room appeared separately.

The meeting from the Rooms Manager is a great touch. The RC staff at my last check-in mentioned that the Rooms Manager wanted to be alerted when I checked-in. I hope for my suite upgrade at Kuantan in October they skip the Rooms Manager and just give me the champagne+chocolate in room! Melbourne sounds awesome!

1. Hyatt Regency Vancouver
2. Deluxe suite
3. Maybe 600sqft
4. 2 bedrooms (one converted to living room), 2 bathrooms
5. We were given adjoining rooms on the club floor. It wasn't really a suite, and we barely used the second room. C- for our purposes, but potentially good value for families who can use the second bedroom (pull-out couch). Bathrooms unimpressive. Not worth using the suite upgrade here; get a balcony room instead!
6. Very centrally located, very friendly staff. Club food average. Self-parking $28, valet $38; we paid $12 on our own (very low rates on the weekend). Limited room service menu and good pay-per-view selection.

Can we request a Diamond suite upgrade on a corporate rate? Do we book it online first, then request the upgrade or do both at same time with a GP agent?

First time diamond. I called the upgrade line, they say suite upgrade cannot be confirmed until check-in? Is that true? Isn't it immediate or within x days?

That's not true. Call and find a more knowledgeable agent. As long as you have a paid rate, the agent can confirmn the suite at time of booking.

Has anyone tried to use their confirmed upgrade for New Delhi? I am a bit wary due to Luxury Tax issues.
