It clearly shows. From the signature scent to the boutique-style size to the furnishings, they are very similar properties. And in a very good way. What a property. Simply outstanding. Check In Check-in was at the level of efficiency and professionalism you would expect from a leading five star hotel. Although I wasn't offered a choice of amenity (I later received a bottle of wine and, somewhat oddly, six apricots) I was asked if I required a late check-out. The Diamond breakfast amenity was also clearly explained. I was then escorted to my room by the same agent who checked me in. Room There were two medium-sized windows with shades rather than curtains (drapes) which did let in a bit of light, unfortunately.I booked the entry level park king and received an upgrade to the best available room (below a suite), a park king deluxe. The room was large. A beautiful king size bed, firm and very comfortable was obviously the centrepiece, as well as a large desk, TV, coffee table, refrigerator and two-seater lounge-thingy.  Bathroom The closest was in the bathroom but wasn't behind a door; it was open to the rest of the bath area.Amenities were Laura Tornato (the same as the Park Hyatt Dubai) and plentiful. The bathroom was massive. the walk-in shower with rain head and separate arm would comfortable fit three people. There was a large separate tub, not one of those tubs (not where you have to bring your knees to your chest to fit into) and deep. The vanity was also large.  Service I do find EUR9 to launder a pair of underwear extortionate, however. As you would expect, service was top-notch. The interaction with staff was always profesional and generally with an eagerness to assist. Dining As a Diamond the buffet was complimentary and I could also select one item from the a la carte menu. The selected items were generally small but very tasty. There is a fairly extensive selection of cheeses and some meats which I assume is very Italian.I only partook in breakfast, which is served in what is essentially a sitting area or room directly off the lobby. Like other top level Parks (eg. Paris, Dubai) the buffet is by no means extensive but the quality is very high.  Location On the taxi ride to the hotel I passed through what I assume is the newer area of Milan which is vastly different from the area the Park Hyatt is in. If I was staying in that area I would have been very disappointed (depressed even). The hotel's location is amongst some great older buildings and really feels 'Milanish;. Location is first rate, just two or three hundred metres from the Duomo (cathedral) and a couple of minutes walk from extensive shopping. Concierge I utilised the concierge service for assistance with planning a trip to Lake Como and was not disappointed. I purchased a train ticket as well as a bus ticket with a tour company to a clothing factory outlet directly from them. This, too me, is part of true five star: a hotel taking the queuing or uncertainty and confusion out of finding tours and tickets out of the equation and providing it directly to you. The tickets were simply billed to my room, without surcharge. Overall I can't remember the cost of the taxi to the hotel but an Uber back cost me EUR33 (after being adjusted from EUR44 when the driver started the meter before I'd even set eyes on him, let alone started the journey).I would very happily return to this hotel and really give it top marks. It was a wonderful stay.
Old outdated rooms with no light at all? this hotel needs some renewal. spa section crap and room so boring and slight old.

I am sure you called downstairs right away and they either fixed it or gave you another room sans the rust! If not I would have simply moved to another hotel. Life is too short. What was your room number so when we are there in Nov I can make sure I don't get the same room!

I don't know if MO would be more to your liking, while everything is a bit more shiny over there, rooms are tiny. And I mean really tiny. The hotel was conceptualized as a business hotel with few qualities for the leisure market. They now aim to change that with the addition of another, neighboring building. Much like MO Barcelona, which I love.

Whilst we like the PH, the SPG property Hotel Excelsior is excellent. We have so far only stayed on a BRG to around 200 euro/night and one night on a spa package that worked out at buy the spa treatments, stay in a suite for free. However, despite only having gold status, we have received high level suites on each stay, great breakfast, lovely welcome gift and the spa there is superb.

What will be interesting to see the outcome of the Starwood Marriott merger especially in Europe I am lifetime PLT with Marriott so can't wait for the new options in Europe. In Africa Marriott bought Protcea and they are great.

Nope i stayed in the room as the hotel was full so i got an upgrade to a junior suite my second visit there.

I cant remeber the roomnumber as this was last year in april.

Im just being honest here and do not want to ruin for the ones who really like this hotel but the junior suite made me depressed with no view and simply a small dark room

Oh, am feeling depressed now. We are going to be there this week, booked points + cash and a DSU. Maybe I will ask them not to bother with the DSU and just give us a nice and bright room. To be honest, I have found these suites have too much space for us - just want a bright and clean room, a comfy bed, a good size, clean and modern bathroom with good water pressures, working wifi and a reasonable breakfast (although it is me who eats a full breakfast, hubby just have yogurt, toast & cereals!). Most of the time we are out and about all day sightseeing anyway. [Of course at home I want many rooms and big bedrooms, not box rooms they have here in London.]

Just want to update on the tickets for the Last Supper. I have bought tickets online a few months ago when the date we wanted opened up. Had to telephone, and paid with credit card, then they emailed the confirmation. We will have to turn up early to pick up the actual tickets on the day.

A question about how to get from LIN to PH? I have read that there is a bus no. 73 which takes about half hour from airport to Duomo, then a 15 mins walk to the PH. Has anyone done this? We will only have 1 carryon bag - always travel light, and hubby is averse to using taxi etc. He prefers public transport.

I wandered the streets around the PH Milan a fair amount. I don't recall seeing any Best Westerns, unless maybe the Duomo or Ls Scala have been repurposed?

More seriously, I don't believe your comment adds anything to the thread.

I would have called or gone down to the front desk and demanded a new room and if full had them book you into another hotel. I personally am too damn old to put up with less than expected. And then written Hyatt Chicago. Too many of the European hotels are being remodeled to keep up with demand.

"Old world charm ' only goes so far !

Actually I currently at the PHV where Claudio is now the manager. He opened the Milan Park Hyatt. He is overseeing the remodel of the rooms here which begins next week.
