The big difference is that Post Ranch Inn does not offer point-based redemption stays, and so the client mix will be different.

Not just a lot of stock options, but a lot of easily-obtained Hyatt points. In fact, a cursory online search will yield several video posts of detailed stays by youngsters who would end their vlog boasting about how they got their stay for nothing by taking advantage of Hyatt credit cards sign-on bonus. When I stayed there, it was not difficult to spot those youngsters who looked absolutely giddy with joy.

Perhaps but the bulk of the rooms here are not available for points and the property seems to be sold out quite often so someone is paying cash money bucks for most of these rooms.

It would be interesting to know the numbers, but my sense was that quite a few of the guests were on paid rates. Valley money can be totally price insensitive.

Also, this place existed for many decades before it was a Hyatt, always with very pricey rooms.

Is there any benefit for Globalist over Explorist on an award stay, other than the higher chance of upgrade?

Oops, my bad. I didn't realize the question is for this specific property.

Anyone stayed here with a friend but not your partner? Is there a rollaway bed available upon request? Thanks!

News regarding likely regional lockdowns in california

https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/03/us/lo...vid/index.html

The above article does not explicitly mention whether hotels will be permitted to stay open, but it does state that non-essential travel is not allowed.

Hotels will not be closed (except due to lack of business), and there will be no enforcement of any supposed travel restrictions.

I wouldn't hesitate to visit Alila Ventana. They're very careful with their protocols. To me the biggest concern would be the weather, but we don't seem to be having a winter this year, so that may not be much of an issue.

Above is the latest update, although Big Sur is not part of the affected counties at the moment.

"Hotels and lodging: Allowed to open for critical infrastructure support only."

In any case, better follow the news for the ever changing developments.
