I wouldn't hesitate to visit Alila Ventana. They're very careful with their protocols. To me the biggest concern would be the weather, but we don't seem to be having a winter this year, so that may not be much of an issue.
Yeah no real winter is very accurate. No rain lately and probably not for another 2 weeks. This draught might be horrible. Not looking forward to fire season next year.

Gave Ventana a call today in preparation for an upcoming stay. They said they will "cease operations" for 3 weeks if a lockdown is issued by Monterey County, which seems highly likely in the near future. I know the stay at home order doesn't mandate hotels to shutdown, but it seems like Ventana will likely proceed with closures.

I have a booking @ Carmel Valley Ranch coming up and just heard the same thing with the 3 week shut down if the orders are given

This just in:Monterey County Health Officer Dr. Edward Moreno has signed a new stay at home order, placing new restrictions on the county to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Moreno said during a Monterey County Board of Supervisors meeting that the order will go into effect at 10 p.m. Sunday. Moreno signed the order before bringing it to the county supervisors for approval.

Just got an email they are ceasing operations through Jan 10.

We hope this finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. Thank you for choosing Ventana Big Sur for your upcoming stay.

Due to the dynamic nature of COVID-19, it remains a challenging time for our industry as the virus continues to take an unforeseeable toll on global travel and impacting the business of many companies around the world. Guided by our purpose of care for our guests, colleagues and customers, at this time, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend all operations at Ventana Big Sur effective December 13th 2020, until January 10th 2021.

During this period, the hotel will not accept any new reservations for stays and existing reservations and events booked through the hotel or Hyatt will be cancelled at no penalty.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to honor your upcoming reservation. Your reservation will be cancelled without penalty, and you will receive an email notification of the cancellation. If your reservation required pre-payment, you will receive a full refund within the next 10 business days.

We continue to closely monitor the ongoing situation, remaining vigilant and following local and state guidelines, as well as enhanced procedures and protocols developed in consideration of guidance and information from various health organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), local authorities and other leading organizations and experts.

We know this is disruptive for you, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Should you require further assistance, please contact us at 1.888.848.9496 (toll-free in the U.S. and Canada), at 1.402.952.1131 or through your nearest Hyatt Global Contact Center.

We sincerely thank you for your understanding and look forward to hosting you again in the near future.

Warm regards,

Sean Carney, General Manager

If you were having trouble finding 30k award availability, now would be a good time to try again.

Thank you for the heads up! We booked 2 30k award nights for next summer and don't see anything about it being all inclusive or including all taxes and resort fees in the confirmation like we had this year. Do you know if they changed what awards cover next year? Thanks!

I called them last week. They said they don't know when they will stop all inclusive packages, but if you booked it when they offer all inclusive, it will be linked to your reservation. So any reservations you book now will be all inclusive even if they stop offering it for new reservations later.
