The shortest flight from Male Domestic terminal to Kooddoo Domestic Airport is ~55 minutes and the longest flight takes ~1 hour 45 minutes due to a ‘stop over’ in Kadhdhoo Domestic Airport.

A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.
Any last minute name changes on domestic flight ticket are subject to a fee levied by the Maldivian Air. All such changes will be charged at the rate of USD 100 net per person. The exact flight timings are released two days before departure, but tend to be around these times:

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

If people were influenced by the cost of drinks, then from a behavioural economics perspective I'd suggest the opposite. People will be taking advantage of the complimentary drinks pre-10pm (i.e. "loading up") rather than phasing their drinking. Either way, for $600, I'd feel nickel and dimed having to pay for my drinks after 10pm.

Not even drinks to get drunk or 'load up.'

This is an island where everything is shipped in. It already includes drinks from 22:00PM which totals 3.5hours.

I don't understand your first sentence. In regards to your second, I'm well aware of the COGS in these remote locations (e.g. Maldives, Bora Bora, etc.). However, for $600 pp I'm sure they could cater drinks for the full evening. Afterall, they can afford to price the premium "all in" package at $300pp which includes a full day's meals and UNLIMITED premium beverages (including cocktails, champagne and many of the fine wines).

Typo: Not everyone drinks to get drunk.

In fact, most nights we were the only people at the bar.

I'm pretty sure I did not get the message when I made my points booking. I'm glad I posted about it here so at least now I won't be surprised if we don't have a choice. We were probably going to do the NYE package anyway (when in Rome...) and at least it sounds like we'll get a sunset cruise out of it

Well, color me surprised. I definitely did not see this when I booked my award stay a couple months back. I am sure I would have remembered seeing it.

I find the price rather steep. Could they really force us to partake if we wish not to, and was not informed of it at the time of booking? We may join in anyways, but it'd be nice to have the choice to opt out and just enjoy a quiet night to ourselves.

I'll be staying here over new years and just received an email with the details on the mandatory dinner. I'm assuming there is no cruise this year?

NEW YEAR’S EVE:

Ring in the New Year at the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa with an extensive international buffet featuring European classics, Asian delicacies, local favorites, and other irresistible offerings.

Start your journey with a Champagne Rooftop Reception while enjoying the views of the setting sun. All guests will then be escorted to the hotel’s Dhoni, an architectural masterpiece and heart of the island, where your culinary experience will begin with interactive displays featuring a Live Salad Station, Arabic Mezze, Antipasti, International Cheeses and a Seafood Counter with Home Cured Reef Fish & Japanese Sushi. Your journey will continue to the pool side Dining Room where our Chefs will carve BBQ Beef Rib, Baked Tuna in Brioche and prepare International Kebabs and Seafood a-la-minute on our island BBQ. Signature dishes from the Maldives and China will also be on offer. Ease your way to our beach front Bar where a lavish display of desserts from Black Forest Cake and Sour Cherrie Clafoutis and a live counter of Eclairs and Profiteroles, to name a few, will complete your journey. The celebration continues until late on the Hadahaa beach with a wide selection of beverages available on order while you immerse yourself in the tunes of our live DJ.

*Entertainment: We will have a musician (Saxophone/Guitar) during dinner and DJ on the beach afterwards

570net per person - Includes Champagne Reception, International food buffet, house wine and beer

Promotional Champagne Menu available with advanced purchase

All other alcoholic beverages at ‘A La Carte’ Prices

Yeah, I got the email too and am very disappointed. Not only is there no booze cruise (which at least would have covered a couple hundred bucks in value), but free drinks only include Champagne Reception, house wine and beer.

So I'm spending $1,140 for two and don't even get a proper open bar?! This sounds like an average wedding reception, not a $500/seat 5-star experience. I'm starting to get pissed...

Honestly, I'd be quite annoyed and upset too. For $500 per person, you could dine at one of the top ten restaurants in the world including sommelier chosen wine pairings for each course. IMO, this is a money grab and nothing more. It's one thing to provide a $500 per person experience. It's another thing to force it upon guests.

I would just wait and see. The wine will probably be good, and I would not be surprised if cocktails were also included. Hotels often offer more than what is promised.

So don't go on NYE if you feel this way.

I too got the email this morning. I'm a little upset about all this, especially since this was not mentioned when I originally made my award booking (back in January 2014).

I understand that when in Rome, you should do as the Romans do, but I just don't like how they're forcing this on us. And of course, yes, I understand that if I'm opposed to this, then don't go on NYE, but then that defeats the whole purpose as I was planning a special getaway for my girlfriend and I to enjoy the countdown in peace and quiet on a secluded island.

If it was not mentioned at the time of booking you may have a recourse - the hotel could at its discretion either allow you a cancellation or date change without penalty, or allow you to opt out of the mandatory dinner.

But, if you are there on NYE, wouldn't you want to partake of the festive dinner with everyone else?

If anything, the hotel made a mistake by not informing you of this at the time of booking; however, at resorts in the Maldives and other similar destinations these compulsory dinners on Christmas and New Year's Eve are very common. So, one should not feel offended by this, or that the dinner is being unfairly "forced upon" guests.

Most people staying at the PHM are probably paying somewhere from $5,000 - $10,000 to do so. And they were going to drop $500 on food and activities that day anyway, so paying $1,100 instead for a special night is probably not that big of a big deal, since it swings the needle only a little compared to the overall cost of their trip. It's us cost-conscious points-travelers that are trying to do these trips as inexpensive as possible that are probably primarily appalled by the mandatory event, since it can add 30-40% onto the overall cost of the stay.

I did email the hotel--not to complain about the charge--but about my concerns regarding what's included (no boat? no cocktails?). I'm curious to see what they come back with. I did read on a TripAdvisor comment that they had firedancers and freestyle acrobats in the past, so I'm keeping my hopes up that there will be more to this night than overpriced food and house wine.
