A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

We did a private snorkel tour of the reef. It was beautiful. It was probably my husband's favorite part of our entire honeymoon.

how does the online check in work at this property? Do you just retrieve keys? Has anyone booked with points and used this service?

Be aware that the current rate for premium all-inclusive is $256.80/person/day.

So $513 for 2 people each day. It's very unlikely that you'll eat or drink that much every day. Yes, the drinks and food are expensive, but they aren't THAT expensive. A la carte seems to be the best option.
bottle of wine at lunch, few drinks before dinner, then a bottle of wine at dinner, and you'd be pretty close wouldn't you?

add in a decent lunch and dinner and i would've thought you'd be pretty close. Add a few nightcaps and you'd be well done? does it also include minibar?

Do you plan to drink that much each day though? $500/day in food and drink between two people is really high unless you are the type that does drink a lot.

I did the guided snorkelling tour a few years ago. It was the highlight.

It's reassuring having someone with you, but the guide also points out certain sealife.

Yes this was a recent trip. We did the Reef Snorkel expedition. We were the only ones on our particular tour and they took us out to 3 different reefs plus a small, private island.

Did the guided tour of the house reef beginning of this year. It was well worth the money having an expert showing you things which you might have overlooked snorkelling by yourself, but the reef itself was in a bad shape after the recent El Niņo. No comparison to the pictures from before summer 2016.
However, the most fascinating experience was swimming together with a shark (and some smaller predatory fish) inbetween a school of tuna right below the jetty to the overwater bungalows

My trip was last month. The only downfall I think is that it wasn't as clear as I would have liked. The tour guide pointed out some things deep in the water but I couldn't see it. It might have just been me though b/c I think my husband saw some of them. I can't compare to recent years but we would do it again in a heartbeat.

I can't comment to reef condition (I was there pre-2016), but if one is an experienced snorkeler/freediver then one might prefer doing it oneself and without a guide. I swam hours on that reef over the week I was there, the only time with a guide was for a night dive and IMO the guide added nothing (other than being a dive buddy... and being a great person and all but I had an eye for anything the guide pointed out and I needed no companionship from a comfort aspect as it's a shore reef and easy swim - for someone experienced).

If one is a novice (or especially a beginner) one would benefit for someone pointing out critters and all... but the swim is as easy and jumping off a pier (or use the ladder) and nothing is out of line of sight).

Where we went for our reef exploration was not off the ladder or pier. We went about 15 mins out via speedboat.

Well, it seems two topics were kind of merged (possibly by me, if so sorry)... I was (in part?) replying to #3324 regarding the house reef.

As for boat-accessed reef, specifically thilas (as opposed to atoll outer walls and channels), I was super disappointed by any second dives that were inside the ring (as opposed to shallower outer wall or channels which immediately became my first request for all of my subsequent two tank AM trips). Thus, for me as a very experienced diver/snorkeler I'm going to guess that I would not want spend on a formal excursion... not that the reefs are bad but IMO they are not much better than the house reef (again pre-2016) which I'll rate very very high.

Now, for a more tourist experience and for a novice snorkeler, I suppose it would be (possibly well) worth it.

Yes. You did mention the house reef. I missed that. The OP though never stated which type of guided snorkeling tour he/she was looking into. So I was just adding some more details to the one that I did.

Have any of you been to St Regis and can compare to Park Hyatt? Right now we are leaning to Park Hyatt because more private, less people and hopefully better snorkeling.
