Is there still some things that are not working right with the search for honors rooms?
I am trying to find a hotel for May in San Francisco and there is nothing available.
Also I search out an entire year and nothing shows up.
System still not all updated or did something change on how we should search?

Also, once you get into Starwood Category 6 and 7, the value-per-point equation can go either direction (good or bad) in a hurry. If you've found a great Cat 6 with $350 rooms, consider paying for the room if you think it's worth it. Other Cat 6-7 hotels will have only $1,000 rooms, making the points look more attractive. Eventually you get into hotels you *probably* wouldn't actually book yourself with cash, so it's a bit like assessing the value you're getting out of a F/J award flight.
Whenever I do cross-program comparisons, I tend to use something like Starwood Cat 4 or 5 vs. HH Cat 6 or 7 vs. Marriott Cat 5 or 6. Although now HH has made this a bit more difficult...

You need to have enough points in your account in order to see the availability.

Of course, I just blew half a million points before the big devaluation, and have almost nothing left. Still, the system used to show the points required, even if I needed to buy them.
Also, I am looking at resorts, and when not logged in, I do not see the 5th night for free in terms of the points required.

However at some threshold it allows you to look short and buy the remaining points, I booked NYE at the Doubletree TS with only 41K points in my account and bought the 9K points I needed.

Since the Hilton NRT rates are fairly "reasonable" most days, unless you are extremely points-rich, wouldn't it be a better deal to pay the regular room rate rather than using points or c+p?

There's a current resort promo for 5th night free on cash booking but that's solely on resorts & is a limited time offer.
The 5th night free on awards is what replaced the GLONs.
