With business travel and Asian market very unlikely to bounce back anytime soon I would be very surprised if AY puts much effort in their lounge offerings. They are crowded now due to all status matches/promos/covid extensions but that’s only temporary.
Of course if there’s cheaper solution available maybe they do something but having dedicated premium schengen lounge..dream on..😁

Of course I understand that it isn’t realistic currently.
But I do think there’s a possibility for some improvement – realistically AY has agreed with Finavia on new lounge space much prior to covid, when planning the new terminal space.

It will also be interesting how much Schengen traffic there will be at all, with the new strategy.
'Via HEL' is likely a thing of the past. Westwards traffic has never drawn a large connecting crowd and with eastward flights drying up, Schengen flights will be more or less a Finnish affair.
Maybe Finnair moves the lounge to old SK lounge, and ends up flying a dozen flights to Europe a day, from lower numbered T1 gates?

The other day I heard a rumour saying the Schengen lounge will move. No location or date was given. My wild guess is the former airport conference centre and upstairs security. I’m not sure how large the space is. The current location is not any longer very central so it makes sense to move.
And a "bridge" over to the old lounge would be nice if that would be utilized in the future also, like this:

I know this is going to be very unpopular comment but I wouldn’t mind at all if AY axed access to the Schengen lounge for Golds/Sapphires in Y, during morning/afternoon rush hours, based on over crowding, and offered a voucher instead. It’s a joke as it is and no one enjoys the lounge experience now.

Just a QR code through the app would do. More sustainable too. No need to print anything. 😎
