Checking the showers is a good point. Otherwise I actually have reasonable experiences of going for runs around the general airport area from various airport hotels and the like in HEL. It's flat, paved and you get to see parts of the ecosystem like cargo terminals and customs that you normally wouldn't. Gives a great appreciation for the airport as a complex organism.

Wow the food here at the schengen lounge is just terrible, looks so bad I dont want to taste it or even photograph it.
Luckily Lonkero is available for morning salads and a glass of sparkling on request

Had two slices of bread, butter, cheese, Mettwurst, yoghurt, Müsli and strawberry jam. Two-star hotel breakfast.

Stopped by the Schengen lounge waiting for passport control to the non-Schengen area to open. Saw many folks with plates full of the eggs with hot dogs. I stuck with the muesli, salad, and cold cuts, which were okay.

If actually hot-dogs, wouldn't that be the first non-vegetarian dish in that lounge since a longtime?

Been a while since I've been in HEL Schengen Lounge (and on AY, but that is another matter), but smoked reindeer soup was genuinely quite tasty IMO. And yes reindeer isn't ""exotic"" to me. Don't know if that's new or an older staple I've missed, but felt I had to say it.
Rest "ok" from what I could tell in sub 30 min stay. Mexican veggie patties, not bad baked potatoes, vinegrette etc.

Today a tad less overcrowded. I think the only overcrowded area was the Lumo corner! So now we have confirmed thus we have a true Lumofirst dedicated lounge
Same offerings (Kuortaneen Esson takapihan retiisit) that I didnt touch, had some reindeer soup which they happened to have. Okayish.

Tuesday morning, 7:15 am. Crowd is leaving so the lounge is not busy at all. Slight adjustments to the menu; apple jam instead of strawberry, better cheese and worse cold cuts.

Quite pleasant now, actually. Not crowded and less dishes around than in a normal student dormitory kitchen area.
