Would like to follow up here... I checked my reservation today and it looks like the Y seat map on BR31 departing on 12/22 is mostly full with only some middle seats remaining (I unfortunately did not select a seat). I don't have access to Expertflyer, but a quick Google Flights search reveals EVA is only selling Royal Laurel seats - do I have a better shot of getting an op-up to PE or J at this point?
Also on my return, I wouldn't mind buying up to PE, would the agents at SGN be able to assist? Or if they are unable, how about the agents at the EVA lounge in TPE for the TPE-JFK sector?
Much appreciated for the feedback.

Otherwise, back of the plane. Most people seem to prefer to sit upfront.

The second mini J cabin starting in row 8 has a bassinet in the centre. It tends to have fewer passengers as well. I got a new B777-300 aircraft on my YVR-TPE 0200 hour departure and loved the seat, I was seated in 3A. Great crew. Did not offer a 5 course meal like they would offer during the day time. Still very nice.

To get a bassinet on the 77Ws, I usually play it safe to book 8k, which is the only one on the 77Ms. 77A/B have an extra one on 8A. That said, they’re very high and inconvenient, so the FAs might be kind enough to let you use an extra seat (if free) if you ask them.

I prefer the late night flight as well but some passengers aren't considerate of those who want to sleep.

Bulkhead seats are a mixed bag. Yes you get some more leg space, but you pay for it by not being able to put store your stuff in front of you. Also, if I remember correctly, you lose an inch or two in the width to store the IFE. I think you also gain the leg rest (if you recline).

You'll need to provide a bit more info than that for anyone to be able to properly help you. That said, personally, on the B777, I prefer the aisle seats, back of the cabin if possible. I found it gave me a bit more privacy and I can recline as far back as I want.
