Can I request the voucher if I have flown the outbound sector?

I suspect that you'll be refunded with fare difference between OW and RT tickets, which in economy will be much less than 50%. I'm curious if you can change your destination to LHR for example, and get a separate ticket for LHR-MAD. That can be cheaper if it's possible.

Yeah.. that could be the case. However, I was also thinking about changing it to a different EU gateway. Problem is MAD is not final destination of our trip - It's actually one of the smaller Canary Islands (La Palma-SPC). And to be honest, it's actually very challenging to get there in a time efficient way (without having to spend two nights in hotels).

At the moment the best option seems to be MRU-LGW-TFS and ferry to SPC. Total travel time should be little bit over 24h. Let's see.

Have done the online application for a travel voucher for my next EK flight..
it's the return leg of a DEL-DXB-LGW -DXB -DEL in Y
I had used a email upgrade offer to upgrade the return part LGW-DXB-DEL to J .

Any chances of getting a refund on the amount I paid for the upgrade in addition to the voucher ?

This has been posted on pprune, so not 100% confirmed.

Edit - second sourced, so it appears to be true.

Emirates’ flights to London Heathrow will be reduced to two flights a day, while Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham will be served with one flight a day from 25 March to 30 June, 2020.

These destinations will all be served by Boeing 777s. The airline will also temporarily suspend its fights to Newcastle, London Stansted, London Gatwick and Edinburgh over the same period.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We continue to monitor the situation closely, and look forward to resuming normal operations when feasible.

Well, my existing booking on EK11 on 30/03 has 16/58 seats in J taken (2 class). So very very empty at this stage. If we do fly (still very much to be seen), and they move us to LHR that's fine as long as they still honour the CD to Canterbury (which at the moment is - still - just inside the free distance limit). First world problem.
Also was notified that F upgrade is available on CPT/DXB (77W) which is unheard of, more than a week out. Just checked the seat map: F is empty, there are 4 of us in J (including the missus and me).

I would say expect it to to roll out tomorrow or Monday, just pricing flights and noticed a lot of flights seems to be more expensive then earlier

Yea I saw that too, what a joke.

crew are now routed through dxb (rather than hq directly) to get tested before being brought back to hq to get their luggage and go home

I don’t want to post the photo I got sent but crew are packed like sardines waiting in Copthorne Airport hotel to get tested...

I flew TG517/EK7210 (a very empty flight) the other day from BKK to DXB just before UAE closed borders.

On arrival there was a temperature test at top of airbidge. All pax were then shown to a small, filthy, makeshift room (it had obviously been hurriedly prepared). Immigration officers appeared in Darth Vader costumes and checked our passports and questioned us. I then received a green sticker on my passport and was given a sealed red plastic bag. I was told to go to see a doctor nearby.

The doctor opened the sealed bag and pulled out a huge ear bud and rammed it up my nostril. It was most unpleasant!

Doc then said I could enter Dubai. Doc did not appear to test the sample she took from my nose. Doc put a second green sticker on my passport.

Ok so it seems that Emirates will only offer travel voucher and not a full refund (waiving refund fees) for non-refundable fares affected by COVID19. How about if the flight schedule has been moved a day later? Would this qualify for a full cash refund?

If your original flight is cancelled, then you should be able to get a full refund. If Emirates don't offer this, then do a credit card chargeback.
