Hi everyone,
First time user here so bo gentle. I have my mother staying with me in Australia and she is due to fly back to the UK with Emirates in 12 days. Now that's almost certainly not going to happen with the current situation. The Emirates website seems to be deliberately ambiguous regarding cancelled flights. They state there's no change fee for the 'keep your ticket option' or the 'travel voucher' which is great, but it seems to make no mention of having to pay the difference in any fares? Am I being naïve to think they will fly my mother back the UK at no extra cost when flights resume, or should I expect to be paying a rather large difference in the two fare prices once flights are available again?
I have tried calling emirates but I'm just kept constantly on hold. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

If you take a look at the post linked below, it would appear that EK are waiving the fare difference at the moment :-

I have now changed my ticket for my mother to December.
The helpful agent (absolutely no waiting time with Skywards Gold number in Dubai) took 20 minutes to do the changes, he said December is more expensive, but he'll waive the fare difference. New ticket received, nothing paid, so quite happy with the outcome https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/imag...lies/smile.gif
As some have mentioned it may be case to case as the wording on their website is vague.

Thanks DYKWIA for your fast reply! That's great news. I'll be a little more patient on the hold tomorrow and hopefully I can achieve the same outcome.

Thanks again

If you can call the UK number +443448002777, always find it better calling the UK number. Call EK and make chnage's dont ask for voucher as then you will need to pay fare differance. I have had my ticket changed at no fare differance. I would suggest waiting until Australia opens flights and EK resumes service, at least you have a better idea of when your flying.

Just to be clear what EK seem to be doing is allowing you to change dates to any in the future, no fare differance applicable, change destination within the same region - no costs, change airports within the same country - no fare differance and they waived airport tax differance

I took the liberty to read this thread from almost the beginning this morning (I had clearly nothing else to do).

Admittedly it's quite eery so see how the situation has evolved from 'let's see what happens' in January to the gradual shut down in March.

Shame for all the personal tragedies since then.
