Do you know if Emirates is offering travel vouchers for tickets booked via travel agents too? it's not clear from the website.

No, my experience with my TA (booked via my bank) is either free date change or refund minus cancellation fee. I know that this must be illegal when they have cancelled the flight, but it is what I am being offered.

Sorry, if you don't mind me asking, when was it offered?

Same here. My mother had a flight cancelled to BKK from GRU, travel agent trying to get her a refund and was only offered the fare minus the 400 USD cancellation fee and 25 USD processing fee. So about 50% of the ticket lost... but I guess we won't really have any choice?

Also:

Does anyone know if Emirates will continue with their peace of mind policy of allowing new bookings to changed and cancelled easily, that as it stands, goes until 31 March? Have there been any announcements about this continuing into March?

Intresting what EK say here https://www.independent.co.uk/travel...-a9428731.html basically a voucher can still be refunded but in a years time? Seeing how EK have behaved so far, I would expect them to flipflop on that. If you plan the same trip again then not cancelling may be worth it since you can fly in peak for no extra costs, therefore a £400 ticket could be reticked for £1000 depending on month booked

Has anyone experienced problems claiming miles recently?

I took three FlyDubai flights in early March and none of them have credited. I have tried to retroclaim them three times on FlyDubai website but they still arent appearing.

I guess my misding miles are a fairly low priority just now.

I've recently had one of the fastest responses ever to claiming miles from Flydubai. My miles never credit and retroclaims always give me an error message - something about name mismatch - and I have to email [email protected] with a copy of my boarding passes and passport photo page. It usually takes 1-2 weeks, but this time I think it was sorted in about 48 hours.

Incidentally, I've never been able to get to the bottom of what part of my name doesn't match and I've never encountered a frequent flyer programme with such a tight tolerance on name matches.

One positive of all this, some of you may remember a while a go I was trying to work out which group I needed to open up to get my outbound moved from Man to LHR. I was initially being quoted around £200 as airport tax and needed to go up a group. Called today and spoke to someone and initially I tried to query if my outbound from Man was cancelled was told still on, I suggested it was supposed to go down to two flights, wanted to change to LHR to be safe and was aware before end of month was free of charge changes. He said sure, took a while on hold as he had to manually reticket, came back and said was done, no mention of any airport tax or otherwise since LHR is a greater tax then MAN. The above suggests airport tax would be collected. I can only think my original fare was 1500 as a flex where as if I purchased a new ticket its 1375 flex and 1200 saver, I price matched for 1300, I could save 100 as a saver but dont think I will get far trying to get a refund and repurchase ticket.

Emirates told me that this information is not valid, reissue date is irrelevant, and only the information on their site is official, so we don't have to pay any fare difference if rebooked in april.
From where did you get this information?

Dan1113 Mar 31, 2020 4:58 am

My mum's travel agent said the same, that info is BS, they are still charging the full cancellation fee for flights THEY cancelled.

Who wrote that mail shot as the English is shockingly bad?

Longton Mar 31, 2020 8:25 am

Bad English, wrong numbering. Looks like it has been put together by a travel agency.

It's not an official Emirates document, so best to ignore it.
