Looks more like tourist repatriation:
The British Embassy said 32 travellers left the UAE on 28 March when a flydubai flight was given special permission to depart for Zagreb in Croatia. It is understood other European tourists were also on board. A connecting flight to London Heathrow was due to depart Zagreb later.

I guess question is will EK transit passangers? I have parents in ISB and a friend who I have booked from Oman Air, to BA to Qatar Airways trying to get him home. If EK will do inbound from ISB and allow transit then I guess another booking will be made. What is intresting is it suggests KHI from the 6th however Pakistan has a lock down and no resumption until the 11th as per the NOTAM. Only allowing PIA flights so would be intresting again

They just announed some on EK site
"Emirates’ first passenger flights post suspensionNews flash
Last updated: 2 April 2020, 20:14 Dubai (GMT+4)
  • Approvals obtained to fly passengers outbound from the UAE to some destinations from 06 April. Initial flights to commence from Dubai to London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, Zurich and Brussels
  • Stringent entry restrictions remain in place at these destinations as well as others across the world; travellers advised to check before travel
  • Safety and wellbeing of customers and crew remain Emirates’ top priorities
Important: If you are considering booking one of these flights, you will need to check eligibility from the respective country government guidance and entry criteria on the IATA information page to ensure you are able to travel.

Health and safety

We will operate a modified inflight service programme on these flights. Magazines and other print reading material will not be available, and while food and beverages will continue to be offered on board, packaging and presentation will be modified to reduce contact during meal service and the risk of infection. Emirates’ Lounge and Chauffeur Drive services will be temporarily unavailable during this period. All Emirates aircraft will go through enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes in Dubai, after each journey." https://www.emirates.com/uk/english/...-updates/#3524

Put in Bold something I almost missed on first read, no Lounge and No chauffeur drive. Seems intention is to help repatriation for those stuck in DXB at present

According to the EK commercial website: Approvals obtained to fly passengers outbound from the UAE to some destinations...

I think they only allowed to take stranded expats OUT from the UAE. As far as I know the borders are still closed to all INBOUND passengers, including transit, even for UAE Residents stranded overseas. The rumblings I hear are that the UAE border closing will be extended additionally so it will be some weeks before any inbound or transit passenger will be accepted.

With the start of limited passenger services from Dubai next week, Emirates will bring UAE nationals home for free on all flights. UAE nationals currently stranded overseas can contact their closest UAE embassy for assistance. Emirates stands with the UAE. https://t.co/EDz9EyfUhV

Paid for by everyone else’s cancellation fees

And they'll only be in First or Business, purely for social distancing reasons of course.

I've posted this before but didn't really get an answer. I have a JAL booking using EK points next month. It's not cancelled yet - but is certain to be.

My EK points would have expired if they are refunded, so I would lose them. But I still have a ticket... any idea what they will do in this situation? Will they allow me to do a partner booking / shift the date? I don't want to lose the booking entirely...

I believe original plan was to send planes a ferry flight so having a few pax on board to return wont cost EK much and make the goverment look good. Seems effectivly they are charging expats etc to fly home and pick up it's citizens on the return for free. Nice way to make money and look good to it's citizens

Intresting https://www.khaleejtimes.com/coronav...d-19-situation while related to UAE, seems some of EK's concern probably passangers refusing to go back or wishing to be rerouted ahead. Having a MOU may have a mechanism to enable flights to continue.

On another note, seem Dubai has gone full lock down for two weeks? I wonder what this means for the flights it planned?

Well, if Airbus didn't put a fork in the A380 production line, the COVID-19 would have... btw - will EK permanently store more of those oversized frames now that they are not using 100% of them? My guess is "YES", they will be chomping at the bit to order more twin engined trip 7X's to be used in place of those over-grown four engine whales. I need to make reservation on them before they go by the wayside like Concorde did and B747's are doing. I flew Concorde back in July 1998 (EAA air show @ OSH) and flew the last DL B747 flight (model 400 which were inherited from NWA upon the merger) on its last scheduled flight round trip between DTW and ICN back in December 2017.

Looks like the repatriations are ongoing despite the lockdown. I was surprised when I checked FlightRadar24 to find an A380 headed to LHR on the 5th with a number of pax presumably aboard. They are still selling the seats at Emirates.com, I found offers for Frankfurt and London over the next days for AED2,500 in Y and AED5,000 in C, which seems reasonable given the situation these days.
