However I presume that you wanted to say Eastern Asia (as opposed to Southeast Asia) which keeps me puzzling... The only destination I can think of is Haikou (this would be a real stunner, but there won't be enough capacity to fill more than an A332 twice a week).

No I did, I meant Central from a longitudinal perspective as in the middle of Asia. Anyhow I think we are veering OT and should move this to rumours and wishlist

Frankly I don't think so. All we "speculated" was based on the information from people having some knowledge what will happen. I agree that my posts concerning the island resort destination might be moved away from this thread but if those who know the next couple of destinations are not willing to share some of their knowledge without being directly asked for it :( I simply feel forced to ask many questions. :)

I mean, 1 daily A332 to Bologna or Naples for example.

And PSA or FLR, too. Will EK have a consider to start new route to FLR or PSA?

I have no idea if the demand is there, but both Penang and Langkawi Airports can handle widebodied traffic.

MH used to route one of their daily London-KL flights via either Penang or Langkawi in the late 90's to early 00's.

In peak travel periods MH did/does operate the A330 there.

I assume this is all because of those winglet crack checks?

The cracks are in feet holding on the wing skin (or something like that). Nothing to do with winglets.

Yes, they have to repaired the wing skin. All airlines will have a safety inspection for an A380. They have to make sure it is everything is good. If they doesn't have any problem at all. They will allowed to put back on rervenue route.

That's bad news. I'm on one of the affected flights, and went to look at my booking and it turns out EK have put me on an earlier flight. I wonder when they plan to communicate this change to me, and perhaps ask me if the change suits me?

While I appreciate my booking being protected on another flight, I wonder how flexible they might be in routing me via alternative destinations (that do have A380 service).

Sorry for veering off topic - please PM me with some sound advice :)
