The interesting part of this article are the US cities chosen for recruitment drives.... Perhaps a possible indicator of future routes.... ;)
Emirates currently employs over 700 Americans at operations throughout the world, and anticipates hiring more than 4,000 cabin crew and 500 pilots globally this year. So far in 2012 alone, the airline has recruited cabin crew talent in Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington D.C and will be holding a recruitment day in Seattle in March. Looks like IAD is the next US destination for EK.

But I think its right in saying that if its announced sooner than later it probably won't start within the next six months. But looks like a great idea to put competition on the soon to become EY route to AUH and the existing UA route to DXB. Maybe ORD was next on the list, but EK herd that EY was going to announce IAD so thats why they've delayed the announcement and therefore EK is going to announce IAD to put direct competition on EY. |

So should we speculate that IAD may get a launch sometime late 2012... whilst ORD maybe this time next year or a little later? Generally when EK talks about expansion plans they always talk about it in-terms of 'fiscal year' of which operates April-March each year. |
