Twenty-two 777s? Wow! How many of those are freighters though? By the way it this year as in 2012? Or are you commenting on the upcoming EK 'fiscal year' running from April onwards?

Sorry, here is the link

It changes from the Airbus to the 77W from the 27th of this month I believe.

Rumours circulating in Adelaide are that EK are ahead of EY and that a flight announcement is imminent. Apparently EK have signed a contract for catering and flight schedule has been given the green light.

Its suggested that ADL may see a 77W if MEL goes A380 and that the flight may operate via BKK.

Can anyone confirm?

that would be very cool, looking for another holiday to thailand soon and that would make it very convenient if they are on par with MH and SQ for price

MucEKPer Mar 14, 2012 10:28 am

I could imagine it going via BKK or SIN (the latter would compete with SQ and QF).
Via BKK I would expect 372 to be extended or a extra flight to be added.

The issue with a stopover though is that it would not be as attractive as SQ and EY could come in with a direct route and steal the traffic.

Can you confirm the aircraft type at least? ;) Or a possible PM to me to rule out the Airbus fleet being utilized for the job? Wish I could fly to to Australia again......

Great! I will visit Australia twice in the next 2 years and any new Emirates destination in Down Under will give me even more opportunities (Adelaide would just be amazing!).

I hope the route will soon switch to a non-stop flight to improve the AMS connection for me (in terms of a shorter flight time).

5 Australian Destinations??? The Kangaroo Route must be raining money.

MucEKPer Mar 15, 2012 12:32 am

Well I think it is a good money earner for Emirates, and we know that around 70 PAX from DUB continue to Down Under.
In fact, in all Australian Cities (That EK serve) EK has more frequency to Dubai then Qantas does to Singapore i think.

And if EK were to make a smart move they could fly ADL-CBR to get into Canberra before QF does.

Emirates boosts Rome services with 3rd daily flight

Emirates will boost its operations in Italy this October as the airline adds a third daily flight to Rome. This will take the total number of flights offered to Italy to 56 a week.

Starting 1st October, EK 099 will leave Dubai at 0315hrs and will arrive in Rome's Leonardo da Vinci airport at 0735hrs. The return flight, EK 100, departs Rome at 1120hrs and arrives in Dubai at 1910hrs. The new service will be operated by a 237-seat Airbus A330-200 in a three-class configuration that offers 12 luxurious First Class seats, 42 seats in Business Class and generous space for 183 passengers in Economy Class. The aircraft also will add a total of 15 tonnes of cargo-carrying capacity to the route.

I don't think EK would have anything to worry about as far as QF goes. They only operate 3 pw ADL/SIN, nothing else international. ADL is served better by SQ (ADL/SIN currently 7pw increasing to 10pw), MH (ADL/KUL 6pw), CX (ADL/MEL/HKG 7 PW) and NZ (ADL/AKL 5pw).

EK would certainly add something to the ADL market.
