There is a new one less than 2 minutes from my house. ^ However, after visiting SFO this past week and stopping at an In-And-Out in Millbrae, Five Guys is not as good. I do like In and Out. I wish we had them here on the east coast.

alot of these choices I'm seeing here I don't really consider "fast food". To me, anyplace that you have to sit down and order off of a menu isn't fast food. I like the Pappas restaurants but I don't consider them fast food.
That being said, for Houston, I like Taco Cabana for TexMex fast food.
I like In N Out Burgers and wish we had them here in Houston. I do make it a point to go to In N Out whenever I am in Las Vegas or anywhere on the West Coast that has one.

For a different experience in cheap fast food, try any of the hamburger stands in the LA Area. Typically greek owned and have the usual fare:
Thin grilled hamburgers on oversized buns with lots of shredded letuce and thousand island dressing.
Tough pastami sandwiches, but they are large and a good value.
Good grilled chicken sandwiches.

Pei Wei just opened a location near me here in Virginia. Any reviews or comments? Seems they are mostly in the west/southwestern USA.

Sheetz has slowly made its way into Eastern PA. There's a few in Berks (Reading, PA), Lehigh (Whitehall, PA), and Northampton (Bethlehem, PA) counties and they are slowly moving towards Philly. Their pretzel bread sandwiches are awesome!
Jim's Steaks is probably the best local chain for cheesesteaks in the Philly area. Yum!

The cheesesteak wouldn't taste the same. You'd need to use water from the Philadelphia water supply - either the Delaware or Schuylkill Rivers. That's what the bakeries here in PHL use for their hoagie/cheesesteak rolls. My home water supply comes from the Schuylkill River. To me, it's the roll that makes a big difference.

Had my first time at In and Out near LAX Monday night. Not overwhelming from a service standpoint: I requested "animal style" to my cheeseburger and I didn't get it. (In fairness I also requested "well-done fries" and they were, and they were delicious.) The outdoor seating with the planes landing at LAX was a real plus.

I admit I have been addicted to several fast food chains in each of my neighborhood I live in and highly probable that some of you are as well. What I mean by local fast food chains are those that mainly geographically restricted to your city/country and its surroundings neighbors as oppose to those highly internationalized ones (i.e. Mc Donalds, BK, Krispy Kreme, KFC, etc).
These are my favorites in my local neighborhoods (where I maintain residency in each place respectively):
Toronto: Tim Hortons - I come here regularly for breakfast to enjoy a cup of coffee and their Egg Sausage McMuffin Biscuit Sandwiches which craves my mouth and are much better than those served by McDonalds.
Tons of branches through the GTA.
Hong Kong: Cafe De Coral 大家樂 - Simple HK style Cafe serving a combo of western & local chinese cuisine and drinks (What HK sytle Cafes are all about). Baked pork chop and preserved egg breakfast congee always fill up my taste hunger whenver I am in a hurry.
Tons of branches throughout the HK SAR.
Auckland: LJS - I am definately more of a Fish & Chips fan than Burgers. Their tartar dipping sauce is the best and makes their fish fillets to crave for.
Tons of branches throughout the Auckland Region.
LJS in Auckland looks pretty cool. I would give them a go. I was ticked off some years ago when they took out Georgie Pie. I loved their pie and chips. Pretty cool! I do like the Kiwi Burger at their McDonald's!
I would definately recommend others to try these three listed above if they are visiting these places especially for those in an eating budget and in search of simple, fast, and convenience dining atmosphere. So what are your "local" favorites?

I hopped off a plane in PDX, ran for my car and sped for the Burgerville on Powell just a couple exits away. I'd seen it there many times, but never gave it much thought until I read this thread.
Result: I was not really thrilled with it and will drive another two blocks for a Carl's Jr. six dollar bacon burger from now on. It's probably a good thing they don't have those where I come from. I already have some extra baggage to tote around!
