It's not QUITE a fast food joint, but I happen to be a big fan of

THE KICKIN' CHICKEN on King Street in Charleston, SC. It's pub/bar/grill place, specializing in all manner of lowbrow chicken dishes. They have good fries, too.

This is my favorite "local" fast food restaurant. Give me a doubel double jungle style with a strawberry shake anytime. My waistline is thankful that I don't live in the southwest!

I'm doing this tonight.. I ran a marathon yesterday, so I have a couple days of pigging out ahead of me.

Pei Wei just opened a location near me here in Virginia. Any reviews or comments? Seems they are mostly in the west/southwestern USA.

Razzoo's - decent Cajun food outside of SE Louisiana. Mostly in the Dallas Metroplex area, but some other parts of Texas and NC.

It's okay. Nothing that's going to knock your socks off, but definitely edible.

Rhode Island Olyneyville System Weiners. They're like a small hot dog but made of pork covered in a home made secret hamburg meat sauce, mustard, celery salt and onions. They're only made in RI.

Spike's Junk Yard Dogs...This is a small chain in RI that has amazing all beef dogs on fresh baked rolls and a ton of topping combinations to choose from.

Wings To Go...small local chain with great buffalo wings and fingers. They also have other sauce combinations.

Boston Area Kelley's Roast Beef

New Haven, CT Frank Pepe's Pizza

DC Area I completely agree with Five Guys Burgers and also California Tortilla.

Los Angeles I can't believe no one has mentioned Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Their fried chicken is amazing!!!

Houston Area Papa's BBQ

For a different experience in cheap fast food, try any of the hamburger stands in the LA Area. Typically greek owned and have the usual fare:

Thin grilled hamburgers on oversized buns with lots of shredded letuce and thousand island dressing.

Tough pastami sandwiches, but they are large and a good value.

Good grilled chicken sandwiches.

In the Latino part of L.A., stop in at King Taco and grab a few Carne Asada tacos and some horchata.

If you are on a tight budget, stop in a Tacos Mexico for a handful of tacos and a drink for well under $5

I'll also add to the vote for ____'rtos chain. Great for some rolled tacos (taquitos) diooed in some guacamole.
