"Local" Fast Food Chains to Die for!!!!!!
 

I admit I have been addicted to several fast food chains in each of my neighborhood I live in and highly probable that some of you are as well. What I mean by local fast food chains are those that mainly geographically restricted to your city/country and its surroundings neighbors as oppose to those highly internationalized ones (i.e. Mc Donalds, BK, Krispy Kreme, KFC, etc).

These are my favorites in my local neighborhoods (where I maintain residency in each place respectively):

Toronto: Tim Hortons - I come here regularly for breakfast to enjoy a cup of coffee and their Egg Sausage McMuffin Biscuit Sandwiches which craves my mouth and are much better than those served by McDonalds.
Tons of branches through the GTA.

Hong Kong: Cafe De Coral 大家樂 - Simple HK style Cafe serving a combo of western & local chinese cuisine and drinks (What HK sytle Cafes are all about). Baked pork chop and preserved egg breakfast congee always fill up my taste hunger whenver I am in a hurry.
Tons of branches throughout the HK SAR.

Auckland: LJS - I am definately more of a Fish & Chips fan than Burgers. Their tartar dipping sauce is the best and makes their fish fillets to crave for.

I would definately recommend others to try these three listed above if they are visiting these places especially for those in an eating budget and in search of simple, fast, and convenience dining atmosphere. So what are your "local" favorites?

There are few fast food chains with decent food in Sydney, IMO.

Sydney:
If you like Chinese, Super Bowl has numerous shops around chinatown, so it's cheap and cheerful dining that is a step above fast food. :p There are some great Chinese cake shops too (which might be chains...). Just ask kaukau.

The theme for Sydney is great quality, reasonably-priced local ethnic restaurants, some of which have more than one outlet or restaurant. Some of the best have only one outlet, so I'd never recommend a place purely on being a chain.

Black Stump, for example, must be the worst example of an Aussie chain restaurant - be warned! It's not terrible, but terribly ordinary! :D
(We have some really ordinary American chain restaurants here and I don't understand why anyone would go there, except as a novelty!)

This will be appalling to any Aussie, (and I'm not sure just how "local" it is anymore), but Oporto is fantastic.

Granted, I was always a purist and am FURIOUS that the North Bondi branch has now closed -- how dare they eliminate the origin of the species (and the one that was probably the best to its final day)?

Their flat chicken fillet burgers (i.e. Bondi Burgers) are to die for.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries are only located in the mid-Atlantic states (but the chain is rapidly expanding).

In 'n Out Burgers are mostly in California but you'll also find them in a couple of other western states.

Burgerville is primarily located in Oregon with a couple of locations in the state of Washington. The chain has fast food burgers that are superior to the national chains' offerings but it's the Walla Walla sweet onion rings offered in season that are almost worth a trip in and of themselves.

As a native Cheese-head, Culver's and Rocky Roccoco Pizzeria are must-visits whenever I go "home" to Wisconsin. Nothing better than Butterburgers and Fried Cheese Curds to get the ol' cholesterol up! :p

In N Out in California, and Brown's Chicken in Chicago.

In Atlanta, The Varsity. (www.thevarsity.com) It's all good, but the fried peach pies are the best!

Skyline Chili and Graeter's Ice Cream, both of Cincinnati.

Various independent Chicago-style Hot dog & Italian Beef joints in Chicagoland.

Houston Texas
Nit Noi Great Thai Food
Cafe Adobe - decent margarita's, good nachos, great atmosphere.
Soliz Casa de Tacos - not a chain, there is only of them. It's a hole-in-the-wall place perfect for breakfast tacos.

I second the Cafe De Corral in HKG.


Five Guys as well when I'm back home.

Good Times Burgers in Colorado and Culver's in Wisconsin/Minnesota.

In-n-Out.. yummy. Five Guys is good, but pricey.

Skyline is good.

A new one to add... Rubio's on the west coast. Fish tacos... yum... and their fresh salsa is some of the best I've had, and doesn't make me think it's really "fast food".

Another Mexican place, that's more of a "casual dining" than fast food is Chevy's, even though my local Mexican place here in WV does better than Chevy's many times, but Chevy's version of salsa is just so tasty.
