Spike's Junk Yard Dogs...This is a small chain in RI that has amazing all beef dogs on fresh baked rolls and a ton of topping combinations to choose from.

Wings To Go...small local chain with great buffalo wings and fingers. They also have other sauce combinations.

Boston Area Kelley's Roast Beef

New Haven, CT Frank Pepe's Pizza

DC Area I completely agree with Five Guys Burgers and also California Tortilla.

Los Angeles I can't believe no one has mentioned Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Their fried chicken is amazing!!!

Houston Area Papa's BBQ

Good suggestions!

I can agree with you on the Houston attraction... I went to dinner with a friend at the Pappas Steakhouse, it was great!

And on another trip I even got some tex-mex at the airport at Pappasito's... good stuff!

Thanks for reminding me about the Boston area Kelly's... I'm driving up to Weston, MA tomorrow morning hopefully I could find one for lunch!

Gotta' jump in and say, 'WHAAAAA...' I miss Skyline Chilli!!! A 3 or 4 way with extra cheese and a couple of coneys to push it down with saved me many a time at 3:00 AM after a night of clubbing in my younger days.

Fat Burger in SoCal. ^ Far better than In-and-Through Ya'.

Not really fast food but, for someone that rarely eats deserts, the fresh peach pie in the summertime at Coco's in SoCal. That's worth a special trip for me.

I like Kaspar's Hot Dogs (Oakland, CA)
Ben's Chili Bowl (in DC)
Buffalo Wing Univerisity (Fairfax, VA)
Glory Days (not really fast food, but worth the wait)

My brother says, Chipotle, Baja Fresh, Five Guys (I agree).

"2 Sliders & A Side of Grease!"

Easy -- Jack's Drive-In in Wynantskill, New York. They have been around about 50 years, have only one location, and serve only hot dogs, hamburgers (i.e. "sliders"), and, fairly recently, branched out into French fries.

Brought some to my future wife on our wedding day. (We got married in Wynantskill.) Then, I became a distance runner and started to eat healthier. I haven't had a Jack's in probably 10 years.

This chain is basically P.F. Chang's Jr. (i.e. subsidiary of). Great lettuce wraps.

Yep, it's their "casual" version. Order at the front, and they give you a number and bring your food out to you. The food is pretty good, although IMO not as good as P.F. Chang's. The lettuce wraps are definitely tasty!

Although there were unpleasantries between the Horton family and Ron Joyce with respect to the latter buying out the Hortons' share of the company, Timmy's is still the place I seek out when I want a doughnut. Their soups are yummy as well, and $C2.60 for soup and a bread roll - nice.

Haven't read all the pages, but for those who fancy Rubio's, there are two or three branches in PHX. I'm completely hooked on Carolina's, though, and will happily eat there every day when in PHX. All that melted cheese cannot be good for one's arteries, but I just don't care. The enchilada sauce is a poem, so full of flavour .....

I had my first Tim Horton's experience in London, Ontario

The little rolls they had with the soups were outstanding.

The sandwich my dad got was also great, something about that bread was unlike a typical fast food place in the US of A.... I noticed quite a few Tim Horton's too in the Rhode Island and Southeast Connecticut on one of my New England road trips. Haven't visited it though on that occasion because my friends recommended a little hole in a wall place called Two Little Fish restaurant.

If you are ever in Kansas City you have got to go get you a Hi Boys burger. Not Big Boys, but Hi Boy. As far as I know there are only two locations left for this chain in KC. Once of them is on 40 highway at Stadium Drive and the other is one 291 Highway up by 23rd street. Best burger around IMO.

Sheetz has slowly made its way into Eastern PA. There's a few in Berks (Reading, PA), Lehigh (Whitehall, PA), and Northampton (Bethlehem, PA) counties and they are slowly moving towards Philly. Their pretzel bread sandwiches are awesome!

Jim's Steaks is probably the best local chain for cheesesteaks in the Philly area. Yum!

There was a local coffee and donut franchise called Bess Eaton Donuts that went bankrupt and was eaten by Tim Hortons so now we have a ton of them in RI and Connecticut

There is one every 500 yards now here in Buffalo!
Timmys is hardly 'local' though. Must have a couple thousand outlets throughout North America. Also one in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Old news, but they have now stormed into the Philadelphia area. I've seen one in Center City, there's one in Bala Cynwyd, one in Allentown, one in Cherry Hill, NJ, Somers Point, NJ... I can keep going. They are really good! ^ for their burgers. Way better than MCDs or BK.

At least the one near me is real good.
I so have to disagree with that. Cattlemen's is the bomb - all of em. I've NEVER had a sorry steak there or anything else. and their desserts are over the top. Coincidentally, I'm from OKC and the Cattlemen's there is excellent too. Ditto on the In n out burgers all over and kaspers in the bay. and the Carrabbas back south for italian puts west coast Johnny Carinos and olive garbage to shame.
