Southern US

I'm in Texas and some of my favorites are:

Taco Cabana - way better than taco bell, fresh salsa bar, they even serve fajita's and margaritas

Taco Bueno - another better than average tex-mex favorite

Whataburger - where else can you get a Jalepeno Burger on the go. Also some great fresh made breakfast taquitos (eggs and bacon in a tortilla) served from 11pm to 11am; perfect for a late night bite or a great start to the day.

Better than a Whataburger to start the day??? I haven't had their taquitos yet but wondered how they were. I may have to try them soon.

You beat me to it, so I'll just put in a second recommendation for Blake's!

Oh man, where to start..

Texas--Whataburger (we have some in Florida now)..gotta get that japaleno burger. I realize Chuy's is not fast food, but I love that Tex-mex chain and try to eat there anytime I'm in a city in Texas that has one.

NC--Bojangles. A Bo's sausage biscuit and iced tea is a great way to start a summer day.

I always stop at Tim Horton's while in Buffalo for coffee and timbits.

It's not a chain, at least I don't think it is (should be though), but there is a place in Paducah, KY called Flamingo Row (I think) that has awesome stuffed breads. I make it a point to go there every time I head in that general direction.

Their flat chicken fillet burgers (i.e. Bondi Burgers) are to die for.
Yep great call Oporto is fantastic. I agree North Bondi was the best by far! Ogalo is even better! The guy who started Ogalo is a brother of the guy who started Oporto. These are some of the best chicken burgers any where in the world!

Beware of imitators , there are many places that go by variations, such as; Tommi's , Tomas', etc...

I hope they come up to the SF Bayarea, but it does give me someplace to go whenever I'm in LA.
Had Tommy's the other night. Was not impressed. I passed up In N Out and El Pollo Loco and regret it.

East SFO Bay area, CA:
Nation's Giant Hamburgers
Great burgers, great frys, and great pie!

Los Angeles, CA:
Pink's Hotdogs
While you can fight about which are LA's best burgers, Pink's has the best dogs bar none.

Philippes
Home of the french dip sandwich, and continuously serving them since 1908. (and yes, Coffee is still 10 cents!)

San Diego, CA:
_____berto's.
Yes, there's Humberto's, Alberto's, Roberto's, and a host of other Mexican Taco Shops ending in the same magic letters (and occasional numbers to disntiguish themselves from the one down the block) scattered across town selling food out of drive-through windows. I've never eaten at a bad one.

The Chicken Pie Shop
Traditional comfort food for the masses. This eatery founded in 1938 still serves full meals for $6 and under!

Wichita, KS:
NuWay Cafe:
The home of crumbly burgers, garlic salad, great onion rings, home made root beer, and hand squeezed limeade!

I'll take a country ham biscuit and coffee but I know where you're coming from.

People have referred to Bojangles as just being available in North Carolina but they're up and down the east coast. I've even seen one in Brooklyn, NY.
