Either mom's cooking or left over roasted chicken with trader joes fresh stirfry veggies and that udon mix that they sell at grocery store in the produce section.

The weather sucks here and its a good day for udon, comforting and warm.

A friend with a very nice wine cellar is moving across country and doesn't plan to transport much of the wine. Lucky me, he's coming for dinner tonight and will be bringing several bottles of Opus One tonight for a vertical tasting. The men in the house have planned the food pairings, but I'm not sure what they are as of yet.

Who cares about the food, just drink the wine dear, just drink the wine. :)

Dinner for me is a salad and a homemade blueberry bran muffin. I had a nice brunch today, so don't need a big meal tonight.

The "mini-plate" of chowmein and lemon chicken from the Yichiba Noodle House was particularly tasty tonight. ^

Charcoal-grilled mahi mahi in lemon grass marinade
Rice with shoyu
Spinach salad
Chunks of fresh white Maui pineapple
Pillsbury breadsticks (I know, I know) brushed with butter and sprinkled with garlic salt before baking.
Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream with chocolate sauce

Yum.

A friend brought back some country ham from Kentucky.

So tonight's fare:

Fried three slices of ham and made scratch biscuits.

Butter the biscuits.
Add ham slices
Enjoy with a glass of milk.

One of the world's great tastes.

And good for you ;)

Turkey Haggis - stuff a turkey with ground heart, lungs, oatmeal, salt and pepper. Then steam it in an oven for a while. Yum.

You serious? You can eat just one of those bars for dinner? I was thinking a steak or something :).

I'm having a delicious sandwich of last night's chicken leftovers, sliced, on whole-wheat pita with mayo.

If there weren't any leftovers, it would be take-out time.

brown a whole chicken in butter in a pot/pan big enough to hold it

remove and drain away the excess fat

in the same pan, soften rough-cut (in big pieces) carrots, celery, peeled potatoes. 8 cloves of peeled garlic. And some herb (thyme or tarragon or combination), takes about 10 minutes.

Add 1 cup of cream and 2 cups of stock, bring to a boil

Add the chicken back in, cover, and simmer until cooked (40 - 60 minutes.)

When cooked, remove chicken and veggies. With the stove on high, reduce the sauce a bit. Cut the chicken, assemble with the veggies, pour on some sauce, and serve.

This is my favorite way to have chicken on a cold Winter night.
