Pasta with fresh pesto made from basil grown in a pot outside the back door.

cblaisd Sep 6, 2010 7:02 pm

I smoked, over applewood and hickory, spare ribs, short ribs, chicken, and sausage. Hybrid Memphis style (dry rub smoked for the first 3 hours) and Kansas City style (my homemade barbecue sauce after that for the next 3-6 hours.

Accompanied by barbecue beans, homemade cornbread, biscuits, and apple crisp. There was a salad in there too somewhere.

cblaisd May 29, 2011 11:31 pm

Ham biscuits and sushi.

Sort of fusion.

Had to find this thread as I have taken up Italian cooking. Tonight, I'll be making chicken piccata. Last week, I made veal marsala which was so easy and so utterly delicious. Giada's Everyday Italian cookbook makes it simple. Yum!

Jack's 99 cent store has these terrific curry sauces (Tiger, imported from the UK) selling for, yep, 99 cents - sort of like Hamburger Helper - but really delicious - make some chicken with that and some rice, and there you go. :D

MissJoeyDFW Jan 25, 2012 2:56 pm

Chicken soup, very boring but I am recovering from a pesky cold.

Ambraciot Jan 25, 2012 3:20 pm

Two very thin sirloin strips cooked absolutely plain, then seasoned on my plate. My ex will take custody of the cats on Friday and if they want a sliver of steak tonight, they'll get it.

Gotta love Jacks. Just bought toothpicks and a coffee scoop each for 99¢. :)

Are there places near you that make chicken in the pot? We always called it Jewish penicillin. The BEST for colds. Feel better soon.

Thanks for the tip, I just looked this up and there are a couple of places close by that have this on the menu. It's going to be lunch tomorrow for sure!

jcmitchell21 Jan 25, 2012 5:00 pm

Italian marinated chicken, roasted pepper cauliflower, and grilled asparagus

SirFlysALot Jan 25, 2012 6:04 pm

It was a nice evening! About 35 degrees F! So we grilled some fresh burgers! :p

Spring is in the air!

" What's for dinner ? " is the first thing my kids say walking through door every single day after school.
Not even a " hi Dad. "
I love it.
Tonight is their favourite - Thai seafood noodles with roast garlic chicken oyster thighs.

Yup. They are the Real Deal when it comes to 99 Cent stores. I sometimes go to no-name 99 stores in the boroughs, and the prices are even HIGHER than the supermarket. And I'm like, "give me a break, I can get this for less than half @ Jack's!" :D If you hit it just right on a good day, you can get some really premium stuff almost for free. ;)

I made some matzah ball soup for someone that had a bad cold a few month ago. Mmmm.

I did not even realize oysters had legs, much less that the thighs were edible. :D

I just called the butcher to chop up some sirloin this afternoon. A big helping of steak tartare sounds yummy!

I laughed.

Last night, I made myself eggs benedict. Every once in a while, I get a major hankering for 'em. I'd probably make it more often if it weren't for the time it takes to make hollandaise from scratch, the number of pots and pans used, and the resulting mess/cleanup.

Actually, I quite enjoy making hollandaise.

Along with it... Jack on the rocks.

jcmitchell21 Mar 15, 2012 3:18 pm

Chicken w/ salsa and cheese slow cooked in the crockpot with homemade fried shells and chips. good basketball watching food.

Ambraciot Mar 15, 2012 3:25 pm

I'm going to try out a cache of frozen food I recently discovered in a freezer I didn't know was in use... if that doesn't go well; either chinese takeout or an MRE (I've never used a flameless heatpack before). This could be an interesting evening.

N965VJ Mar 15, 2012 4:32 pm

Order some Chinese and save the MRE for Doomsday.:p

I'm going to be brining some chicken breasts for the Weber grill tonight.

kerflumexed Mar 15, 2012 6:06 pm

Seafood gumbo with okra, crab, crawfish, and rice on the side.

GRALISTAIR Mar 15, 2012 6:08 pm

Alaskan Pollack baked with a little dill and lemon juice and a sliced tomato with olive oil drizzled over it (I am currently a bachelor as wife is home in UK looking after her 90 year old mum)

magiciansampras Mar 15, 2012 6:23 pm

Roast chicken, a little mexican corn dish I do, and white rice.

corky Mar 16, 2012 12:44 pm

Tortilla soup. Panko crusted sauteed tilapia with fresh pineapple salsa, cilantro rice and a yet to be determined vegetable. Dessert is Dreyer's Girl Scout cookie thin mint ice cream.

kipper Mar 16, 2012 4:19 pm

Homemade chicken pot pie, assuming I can find the motivation to cook tonight.

ILuvParis Mar 17, 2012 9:09 pm

We made individual cheese (gruyere) souffles and thawed and heated up some creamed turkey that I had made with Thanksgiving leftovers. Dug a hole in each of the souffles and poured the creamed turkey in. Yum.

Since we had a lot of eggs, we made chocolate souffles for dessert, with vanilla ice cream. We were pigs.

jcmitchell21 Mar 28, 2012 10:03 am

Grilled Smokehouse steaks with corn and black beans and stuffed jal. peppers.

anonplz Mar 28, 2012 11:34 am

Something light, I'm not sure what yet. Maybe some rice/eggplant ziploc baggie I put in the freezer. And boil an egg, with maybe some achar/pickles to go with.

BuddyBird Apr 1, 2012 5:59 pm

Brownies in the oven, caramel sauce cooking on the stove, vanilla ice cream in the freezer, nitrous-oxide whipping cream in the frig.

:p:p:p

Ambraciot Apr 1, 2012 6:07 pm

How much cheesecake does one have to eat before it counts as dinner? 1,000 calories worth... 2,000 calories... 3,000?

kipper Apr 2, 2012 7:11 am

Homemade chicken pot pie, since I never did get around to preparing it a few weeks ago. Fresh chicken though. :)

That takes care of lunch for Mr. Kipper for the rest of the week, and I just need to figure out what we're having for dinner the rest of the week then. :)

Analise Apr 2, 2012 11:51 am

I'm making chicken piccata tonight. :)

:) Sure. I'll send you a PM with it. It's pretty easy, and can be thrown together pretty quickly, both of which I appreciate when I'm cooking after work. :D
