Carrot muffin and JD No. 7

corky Feb 1, 2019 7:56 pm

Romaine salad with almonds, dried cranberries, avocado, and goat cheese.

Angel hair pasta with giant prawns, artichoke hearts, asparagus in garlic/meyer lemon/champagne sauce. Leftovers--I made it last night.

tmiw Feb 2, 2019 6:44 pm

Koji-aged steak, BBQ baked beans and arugula salad. I'm definitely going to make this more often; it beats having to get a special fridge and waiting two months for "real" dry aging.

work2fly Feb 2, 2019 8:24 pm

Baked salmon, boiled new potatoes and a nice Chablis for dinner.

lost_perspicacity Feb 4, 2019 1:55 pm

Homemade General Tao's Chicken

lhrsfo Feb 5, 2019 4:24 am

Squid with black beans, green salad and, for pud, orange slices with pomegranate seeds and coconut milk yoghurt. Domaine de la Jasse, Vieilles Vignes to accompany.

work2fly Feb 6, 2019 6:24 am

Homemade chicken soup, French bread and a bit of Brie.

BamaVol Feb 6, 2019 6:40 am

I broke one of my cardinal rules for maximum enjoyment of life and stopped at Walmart on the way home last night. I had a strong yen for a rotisserie chicken and they're the only store between work and my temporary home. Of course, they had none. I bought a Cajun spiced turkey breast and I baked potatoes and steamed sugar snap peas. I also bought a whole roaster chicken and cooked it myself. It's sitting in the fridge for dinner tonight. I will make a salad and bake potatoes again.

Side note: the beach Walmart is worse than most. You'd think it was next to skid row.

work2fly Feb 7, 2019 12:01 pm

Chicken marsala and polenta.

kipper Feb 7, 2019 5:35 pm

Chicken coated with garlic, butter, and ground mustard, topped with crispy onions and Brussels sprouts.

braslvr Feb 7, 2019 7:23 pm

Garlic Wine pot roast, potatoes, carrots, petite onions. Green salad.

yyznomad Feb 7, 2019 10:11 pm

Spare ribs and chicken wings... oh, and broccoli. :p

corky Feb 10, 2019 11:01 pm

Godmother sandwich from Bay Cities in Santa Monica...best Italian deli in LA. And a half a loaf of fresh baked Italian bread....eaten in pieces grabbed from the back seat as I was driving home and the bread smell lured me. I didn't this time but I have been known to pull over and put the bread in the trunk because I would eat an entire loaf if I got stuck in traffic.

I had planned to make Salisbury steaks. Went in early, worked late, came home tired and skipped dinner and went to bed.

Comfort food for a dark and stormy night: tuna noodle casserole (recipe from the Campbell's mushroom soup label) and Jell-o butterscotch pudding. I'm in no mood for real cooking.

I don't think I've ever tried tuna noodle casserole. I'm not certain what I am going to have for dinner. I haven't considered that yet.

work2fly Feb 14, 2019 5:54 pm

Yum, tuna noodle casserole...this was on our weekly rotation growing up in the Rust Belt.

Tonight it's a chicken teriyaki rice bowl.

corky Feb 25, 2019 8:15 pm

Leftover pastrami pizza. I'm in heaven.

BamaVol Feb 26, 2019 9:59 am

Leftover Cajun spiced pork tenderloin, baked sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli

Dadaluma83 Feb 26, 2019 3:32 pm

I'm ready to make my first attempt at a restaurant style meal at home this weekend.

I'm going to start easy. Made from scratch tacos, refried beans, spanish rice, chips and salsa, and a margarita. Basically copy what I would get at a typical Mexican food restaurant. I'll see how it goes then once I get the hang of things continue to try out new menu items and expand my options.

I'm doing it because I'm looking to save some money by cutting back on how much me and my family goes out to eat while still getting to enjoy food and drinks I would typically order at a restaurant.

cblaisd Feb 26, 2019 9:56 pm

Homemade pepperoni pizza, Diet Dr Pepper, Oreos :)

CMK10 Feb 28, 2019 6:25 pm

PF Chang's takeout. Until my girlfriend brings it home I'm eating way too many Tostitos though.

BamaVol Mar 1, 2019 11:26 am

Will be having Chuckie's famous pork tenderloin sandwich at his food truck at Sloan Park in Mesa, AZ today. So delicious. (Actually lunch, really.)

cblaisd Mar 2, 2019 11:18 am

Dinner tonight will be homemade ham and bean soup and cornbread muffins.

(The rest will go to church tomorrow :) )

That sound amazing. I never thought about pastrami pizza but now I may have to try to make it at home. :D

work2fly Mar 4, 2019 5:08 pm

I could get into a pastrami, swiss and sauerkraut pizza finished with dollops of Russian dressing...

I discovered it at New Years...it sounds weird but is so good.
LMK if you make it.
Mustard and a little mayo, mozzarella cheese, piles of thin sliced deli pastrami and chopped dill pickles sprinkled on top. The pickles really make it pop. The pastrami crisps up in the oven. OMG, I'd kill for some right now.

I am going to try it sometime. :)

lhrsfo Mar 5, 2019 8:07 am

Tonight it's squid with black beans and chorizo, one of my favourite recipes.

work2fly Mar 5, 2019 8:45 am

Tonight's dinner will be baked steelhead trout topped with a bit of garlic aioli, steamed brown rice and a side of sauteed broccolini. I think I have a Pouilly-Fuissé or two in the garage that would be a nice accompaniment.

It's Ash Wednesday. Your dinner would be compliant. We will be having a green salad with chunks of cheese, kalamata olives and hard boiled eggs.

That was my fat tuesday dinner...it didn't live up to the fat tuesday name. I should have ordered another pastrami pizza and chased it with a donut.

yyznomad Mar 6, 2019 8:35 pm

Salmon steaks and eggs.
