Dinner with some folks from my Rotary Club at Fields and Ivy — LFK Hot Chicken Sandwich

Picked up some cupcakes through TooGoodToGo from Small Cakes — I had just one for dessert.

Another not-great pizza in Oman - this time from Bella Vita - the steak was overcooked

With the hot weather decided to make something light but still filling- Prime Tenderloin salad (romaine, avocado, cucumber, grape tomatoes and blue cheese dressing) with a lovely Bollinger PN AYC 18. Consisting of 100% Pinot Noir this Bollinger pairs nicely with the steak salad

Shake Shack, Galleria at Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi - the chicken was better than it looked and very juicy - followed by some coffee mascarpone and stracciatella Grand Cru gelato at La Romana - yum!

Gao Viet, sf:
shared spring roll
passion fruit fruit black tea
chubby pho

they wouldnt serve the raw beef on a separate plate
no pho is worth $23
i prefer their cheaper Ben tre sibling spot
i am impressed with what they did to the former kfc bells spot
the owner makes beautiful videos both for the food and his personal background of being displaced in the 70s. Im happy for his success.
I prefer ppq which is a block away. But gao viet is suited for my wife. She prefers prettier interiors and plating. I go to ppq by myself for luncheon when I can. Thats my kind of place - Chinese-owned where theyll put the raw beef on a separate plate and include bonk choy in the pho which of course is very not what pho is.

Omg my wife and I drove past it last night and admired that it was busy. I love it even if they dont serve Cazu Marzu cheese. I tend to get the squid pasta although Ive not been since the ownership change.

Antonia Chic at The Galleria Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi - the pre-meal complimentary focaccia was divine - salty and warm and perfect with balsamic - my bresaola pizza was good, too, and felt healthy as it didnt have any cheese base (basically a salad)
