I’m still on year 5 of my coffee maker that I got from another parent in 2016! When it’s time, I’ll buy or find another free coffee maker. It’s fun to use Jura and other fancy capucchino machines and I doubt I’ll get one for myself.

5 years?! It was just by chance that I've been so invested in this pod coffee thing--6 months ago, I just ran into some data suggesting coffee prices may rise faster than prior years. So, just ordered a bunch of these pod things from Amazon, since I have a bunch of these Amazon bucks that I have no idea what to do with.

Maybe, I'll just replace it yearly.

PS - Now I remember why I have this Keurig thing. It was during that period when Amex was offering $30 credit for using PayPal, which resulted in a monthly ritual where I was just looking for ways to redeem it.

Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie would be a disappointment for me. What's your go-to Thanksgiving dessert?

I'm not a pumpkin pie eater either, so I usually do an upside down cranberry cake and/or a pumpkin cake roll in addition to pumpkin pie.

Publican is great. Basically we enter ORD T2 security for AS, then walk to T3. Maybe I missed Frontera. Actually all this said, I’m not going to eat Mexican food before a flight. I forgot that personal flight rule.

If you veer right when the concourse splits and Burrito Beach is on your left side as you walk down the concourse, you've missed Frontera. (You can see it from the split, but it's on the left side of the Y.)

It's actually still open -- both at ORD and downtown. The downtown closure was really just a ruse to fire their unionized workers, but it almost certainly cost them goodwill in the longrun. I never hear anyone talk about Berhoff these days, and I even forget that it exists.

Desert Moon Mediterranean Grill in Anaheim for dinner last night and had some favorites!
Ambiance was dark and depressing but the food was good.

#2 large pho with added bok choy - basically all beefs except meatballs, which I never really enjoyed in pho. I see meatballs too much as an Italian dish despite meatballs being in all cuisines :-)

Thanks! Now I see it’s in K gate area of T3. Our AS is in G which is why I missed it :-)

Breakfast - looking for a little change from Cheerios, I bought two boxes of Great Grains and tried the Crunchy Pecan, saving Raisins, Dates and Pecans for later. No flavor whatsoever. The crunchy part is a tooth breaker until the milk softens it to mush. Then it sits heavy in the gut. Color me unimpressed.

Lunch - turkey on whole wheat with mayo, spring mix and tomato. I’m officially over the turkey although there’s at least one more meal left. Finished with a couple sweet gherkins, a handful of ripe olives and an organic pear at the peak of ripeness.

Dinner - aged English cheddar, Finn Crisp rye crackers and Old Wisconsin turkey sticks (no relation to actual turkey) for a sodium rush.

I saw a good looking pumpkin cheesecake in the Trib (I think it was) the week before T-day.

Oh, I assumed you were on the main concourses. The G concourse feels like the place that food goes to die. Such lousy options once you pass the last-chance Starbucks and CIBO.

Just made a salad of kale and sauteed mushrooms, topped with olive oil and red wine vinegar.

TIL that produce at Target is cheaper and seemingly higher quality than my local supermarket, except cucumbers. So that was exciting.

It’s definitely limited! Having seen the map of the K section, I’m now thinking that AS used to be in K/L gates in 2019 or so. Maybe now AS to Sfo is only in G thanks to 2021?

The pineapple bun place now has a pineapple pumpkin bun so I bought one despite having bought OTHER pineapple buns. There’s a limit on how much I can eat at a time!

all I can say is that they sure didn’t have this many choices when I first discovered the joy of pineapple buns in the 1980s.

For dessert tonight I had the leftover mixed fruit (honeydew, cantaloupe, grapes, pineapple). This morning for breakfast I picked out the apple wedges.

For lunch today:
Went to Mitsuwa Japanese supermarket and found this salmon sashimi leftovers on sale for $1.99/lb. It was very fresh as it was cut this morning. Pan fried it without any oil to crisp. Fried the tortilla in the salmon rendering for 30 second on each side to keep it soft. Served with guacamole and jalapenos - out of this world delicious, even the tiny crispy bones were edible!
