Stay home has resumed - hope not to be repeat / extended ..

Prefer our pork fully done as should be the case , so even if it is the type which supposedly stays pink - we have it grilled again

Iberico pluma pork with grilled cabbage , yuzu kosho & lobster bisque from WKD CUTS . Homemade mash potatoes

The lobster bisque showing what is left of the chunks of lobster .

Had enjoyed most of the bisque when I realised that the first photo does not show the generous amount of lobster in it .

My first attempt at pastrami. Brined it for a week, but I didn't steam it at the end just smoked it. It was definitely tender enough, although I think I'd let it sit a bit longer in fresh water after coming out of the brine because it was quite salty. This was straight out of the fridge at lunch today, so it looks a little stiff.

Nice spread - we've been proud members of H-Mart for years now - great quality stuff! :)

Gorgeous. They opened one up in my city. I only haven’t yet gone because I’m still very long on frozen dim sum from ranch 99. I do look forward to a return to Asian grocer after I finish my ranch 99 inventory. Oh how I was so excited when I bought it. So sure that I’d yum it up instantly and instead…

in the meantime I still get Korean dumplings and ingredients at Costco and Safeway.

Love H Mart! And Misuwa. No 99 Ranch in Chicago.

Quesabirria tacos are all the rage here, and I read about a cart/sidewalk stand in my neighborhood that sells them. Just happened to drive by at lunch time, spotted them and remembered, and found a parking space! I even brought one home for Mr. CE....they were as delicious as the reviews.

they’re super popular - I enjoy making the Birria style and want to work on the broth. Since switching to Costco boneless ribeye, I need to really buy boned short ribs or just beef ribs so that I can make a nice beef broth.

A H Mart opened in Mesa last summer. We checked it out after our second Pfizer shot last month. It’s interesting, but my wife likes her normal Asian supermarket more.

My oldest daughter really likes the bakery that is inside ours. We didn’t try it yet.

Are the giant kidney beans the sweet potato? How do they prepare those?

Ah, yes, those are indeed sweet potatoes. Desserts all on their own; these particular ones were stewed in the store, though enjoyed cool/tepid at home. Smaller versions of these can be found in banchan, those side dishes served with every Korean meal.

Did someone (and someone else) say birria?

Mmm, birria...I had some recently in Aguascalientes (a city and state in Mexico). The fresh onion and local oregano were the remate (finishing touch)!
