Fair enough. I have to admit, the week after Christmas, I made a lunch of it at least once. Thus the January daily calorie count. My wife is the type that trims every speck of fat off meat, so the coarse-ground sausages like this fall to me to dispose of, however I see fit.

My go to smoked ham & havarti sandwiches for lunch.
I didn't know that about the English Muffins...
The bagel sandwiches are ok too... reason for the recent Sausage & Egg McMuffin outing was because they were on promo at the nearby McDs.
I just saw that as a typo during quoting...

attempted a spicy fish & tofu stew (with white rice) for my luncheon but I need to get true dried red hot peppers. It was good but I feel zero spice and effects despite the tsp of szechuan peppercorns, which just might not be effective peppercorns as I bought them at a farmers market and not a supermarket.
Theos brand 71% dark chocolate with almond (1/3 bar)
Maybe I should consider... do you use beef hot dogs or other brands/types of beef sausage?
i used to go to Appleton / Ft Atkinson a lot in WI plus lake Geneva and Hayward. Where in WI did you live? I love visiting that state.
Those are passion fruit, yes? I sort of forgot, as I last saw one at a Taipei buffet in 2001, then on TV I saw Mr Pussy eating one during his supper with Charlotte York.

When I make them at home, which is rare, there is always a slice of cheese on the bun before the dog goes on. Chili or not, sausage and cheese is a wonderful combination. When I was growing up, it was basically a given that at holiday gatherings there would be a tray of sausage and cheese. Usually summer sausage and cheddar and/or Colby here in the midwest. As a hungry pre-teen boy, I could make a meal of piling slices of that beef summer sausage and cheese on top of crackers, or sometimes without
.
Of course that's a little window into the culture, since I spent most of my childhood years living in Wisconsin.

Beautiful. I love Madeleines. A friend used to make some with lavander and also lemon zest.
If a whole teaspoon didn't do it for you, maybe you should switch to a different type of pepper. I know some peppercorns are more fruity than pure heat. Experiment with other types or even a hot sauce if you are not getting the effect from the actual peppercorn. You must have an asbestos mouth.
I too put the cheese on the bottom of the bun before the dog. Use whatever kind of hot dog you prefer.
ETA: Gaobest--I was curious so I googled. Szechuan peppercorns are actually not supposed to be hot! They are there for the flavor. I suggest that you use them for the flavor but use another kind of pepper as well or a hot sauce.

tingling---yes. But not necessarily heat & I think that is what you were looking for. You could use both in one dish...the szechuan & a hotter pepper.

oops - I should have mentioned that I didnt get any mouth numbing tingle with my luncheon today. So sad!! Ugh. When I reheat the leftovers, Im going to use the store-bought Szechuan peppercorns and see if it has an effect. Mega sigh.

I used to go to lunch at the Vienna Factory store and cafe (now closed
) on Damen Ave, for a corned beef sandwich. But, since it was right by the Costco, which served Vienna, if I wanted a hot dog, it was cheaper to get Vienna hot dog at Costco!

Lunch today is chicken marinated in buttermilk, pan-fried, topped with a cranberry sauce, and served with oven-roasted brussels sprouts with cranberries and apples.
