ETA: Gaobest--I was curious so I googled. Szechuan peppercorns are actually not supposed to be hot! They are there for the flavor. I suggest that you use them for the flavor but use another kind of pepper as well or a hot sauce.
awww thank you - Szechuan peppercorns are supposed to have this insane intense mouth tingling effect. That’s the mega joy. So I have to try the store-bought jar and see how it goes... sigh.
