Did the GIDS really say that YOUR flight would have wifi, or did is just have a generic "wi-fi" ad type thing in green on the side? I've seen that on a bunch of GIDS and gotten excited only to really read it and realize it that it was just a Delta service ad, sometimes they have ads for vacations or Africa routes, etc...

You know, I think it said my flight, but I wouldn't swear to it.

I'm on http://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL70 right now, in F. Internet is active and working great. DSL-like speed, and only one dropout about 30 minutes west of SAN. EvDO kicks bootay ... can't wait until they upgrade to RevB.

Not sure of our tail #, sorry.

You're in luck. I was just going to look it up on the Delta blog, and they just updated yesterday. Tail Numbers: MD88 — 904, 905, 908, 947, 959, 9001, 9006, 9007, 9008, 9009, 9010, 9011, 9012, 9013, 9014, 9015, 9016, 9017, 9018, 9019, 9020
B757-200 — 640, 690, 691, 692

Heading back home on an M88 on Sunday, I'm hoping it will be wi-fi equipped.

Can't imagine what that plane was doing 30 minutes west of San Diego en route to Atlanta, but if your only internet dropout was over open Pacific Ocean 500 miles from shore you're doing good.

That would be a warranty issue - get them to send you a new battery!

Just had an video ichat with my father who was on a Delta plane approx. 35,000 feet above Virginia. VERY COOL. Although previous reports indicated that this type of use would be blocked?

For the record we did not have a indepth conversation for the whole plane to hear, rather more just doing it to see if it would work.

Sure beats the $7 a minute phones delta used to have onboard.

God Bless,

Is there a predominance of city pairs over which these operate, or are they all over the map?

Supposedly the entire domestic fleet will have wifi by the summer. I guess they mean by the end of summer, but even then it will be a long shot.

Programs: Now just a lowly DL PM/1MM. This industry needs some competition. It's just not enjoyable anymore.

Anyone know how the reliability is so far? Hopefully better than the IFE.

By the end of summer might be a push, but by the end of the year is possible.
