Maybe this was one of you this weekend: I get the u/g so I'm boarding Zone 1 about to hand the GA my BP when a guy gets in Breezeway and walks right in front of me without saying so much as excuse me. We enter the 752 and he goes back to Y.
Isn't it a shame that one has to resort to such tactics to make BW work?

Now, I was quite sleepy when boarding the DXB-ATL flight last week but I am 100% certain that the scanner was in the middle of the regular and breezeway queues. And, several hours later, 61% certain that I saw a sign (either there or in ATL at T5) saying BW passengers could board at any time.

Why won't Delta give up this whole concept? Does NW do this? Maybe that will kill it?
Sorry, but I find it sad that grown men are shoving thier way to the "breezeway" line to cut off those folks in the regular line during First Class boarding. To the jerk on the LAX flight last week who shoved me aside to get to the agent and then drug his rollerboard OVER the foot of the man he raced past on the jetway. You were a jerk. The two of us you ran over were also elite level flyers, you aren't that "Special" LOL!
Breezeway needs to go. All it does is bring out the rude in my fellow elite travelers. Sorry but yes you look like an idiot jumping up and down and screaming when the agent doesn't take your boarding pass IMMEDIATELY. Yes, you are rude when you SHOVE your way in front of the other passengers. (Was it really necessary to break up that family group)
And the best part is when the agents do announce that (A) it's open AFTER zone 1 or 2 or (B) they aren't going to use it because 90% of the plane is qulaified.... watch grown men act like someone took thier candy. I literally saw one man (who had been standing as the first person in the Breezeway line for half an hour) THROW something. Yes, folks he looked like a 2 year old who had just been told "No" you can't have the toy! LOL!

It's just the way the DL EE's handle the process. Some do it correctly, others dont. I only use the breezeway when breezeway boarding is called.

agree.. when there are people standing 2 feet from the boarding agent, and I'm in the Breezeway, and I dont get called, it's almost necessary to wave at them becuase they just forget your there.. I've gotten evil looks from people during the boarding process before and you're right, it comes down to the GA processing passengers correctly...

I find the DL and NW agents both are very aware of those approaching in the Breezeway/elite line.
Having these lines further from the scanner makes sense - the majority of the passengers are NOT medallion/elites. Therefore the GA doesn't need to reach over to the far lane more often than not to take the BP from the passenger, scan it, then reach back to give it to the pax. Granted, it is not a big deal but it does seem most logical the way they do it.

I like the Breezeway, but I think they have it backwards.

It's not a problem, unless you have to walk 30 feet to find a spot to place your carry-on.. This is notorious in the regionals, very small overhead space and it fills up rather quickly. If I miss an upgrade, I want to be on the plane quickly so I can place my carry-on in a close overhead-bin, and relax for a second..

Breezeway / priority boarding don't matter to much if you have checked luggage but they are a bigger perk than ever if you are a carry-on only traveler.

Uh, shouldn't the boarding pass machine be between the Breezeway and the regular line? That way, the first person in each line would walk right up to the GA.
The GA could give preference to someone waiting in the Breezeway and then turn back to the regular line.

I think this would require repositioning of the scanners, which DL is not likely to bother with. At most gates, the scanners are close enough to the "podium" that there isn't room for an aisle on that side.

In my experience, NW (and CO) implement their versions much more seamlessly. It is a very nice perk to the medallion/F flyer who shows up mid-boarding, but DL never got the execution consistently right.
